I'm tearing down the '94 for my street rod project and don't want to throw something away that I need.   Now I've never taken a modern vehicle down before and my repairs on them have been 95% plain old maintenance, but what are these items?

thanks!

  • I found a few pics of it. 94-97 abs module.

  • Wipers have their own module. Says intermittent on them. Which is in a similar location as a ctm.

  • Sorry but I had not been in your other thread. I'll take a gander to get a better idea of what you want to do.   I believe it un-threads from the lever. As in-depth as service info gets;

There is not a ctm in a '94.

There is a module in the same place as the central timer that controls the wiper delay and a few other functions in the truck. Not as many as the later 2nd gen 24V. Even my 96 has this module. Never bother to look up exactly what it all does for the early 2nd gens.

Wipers have their own module. Says intermittent on them. Which is in a similar location as a ctm.

found that, MUCH smaller and has verbiage on it to that effect.  Biggest question, do I need this in my conversion project since I won't be using much, if any of the '94's cab related functions, just the powertrain/frame?

I asked on my other thread, how do you get the 2WD/4WD selector stick knob off?

4WD FLOOR SHIFT BOOT - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

REMOVAL

  1. Pull edge of floor shift boot upward to expose fasteners 4WD Floor Shift Boot - Automatic Transmission
  2. Remove screws holding floor shift boot to floor.
  3. Remove gear shift knob.
  4. Separate gear shift boot from floor.
  5. Lift floor shift boot off shifter.

PH,

It should unscrew.  Look closely at the lower edge for a small set screw though.  (I can't remember exactly how I got mine off.  but it is something like that.)

yah, no small set screw and I about tore my palms off trying to unscrew it....guess it's time for a tool with a lever...

PH,

wow,  this seems tough.  Having trouble on the webz finding out how.  Some say remove the pattern insert and there is a nut under it....

Notice on this page "Chrysler full size...."  Dakota shown....  but it shows a nut under the insert.  https://www.autozone.com/repairguides/Chrysler-Full-Size-Trucks-1997-2000-Repair-Guide/TRANSFER-CASE/Shift-Linkage/_/P-0996b43f80394f99

This replacement shows that the patter insert pops out.  might be it!

thanks for all the help guys!  Last night I got the connector apart: hey there's a bolt hidden in the middle of all those wires!

insert popped out of the knob and: Hey there's a nut under that!

Still wondering what that black box is I posted in the original question, doesn't seem to be consensus on that?

Thanks!

Where was it mounted? I need to pull the knee bolster off my 97 to hook up a new lockup switch. I can take a gander.
