Need some help.  I have to replace the camshaft/lifter inspection cover on the driver side of the engine.  After removing the starter and the fuel filter bowl and lift pump bracket It looks like I am going to have to remove the injector pump to accomplish this.  Does the Injector pump have to come off to remove this cover.

Ya I just went ahead and remove the injector pump.  It’s just to tight a fit with it in there and trying to fit it back in will lead to tearing up the new gasket.     I had to remove the starter

I had to take off but left the starter on. One of the bolts is behind the VP. Might try it next time I have to do it. But as I recall it has to come.

No, if you are very patient and this is only my opinion. I did mine when I had the head off and injection lines. Bolt behind vp will come out, at least it did on my truck. Now with the head on, you have that much more blocking the view. Plus I don't have factory fuel filter canister in the way. It's possible but not easy without vp removal

I had to remove the starter to make sure where it was leaking from.  A lot of work for a stupid gasket.  You’d think after 40 years of mechanicing I’d be used to this.

I’ll still take my Dodge Diesel over a Ford.  Have a PSD waiting in line for injector o-rings.
