How much distance should there be between the bump stop and the axle? I only have about 3 - 3.5 inches.

Mine is only 2.5" on the front. It was little hard to measure.

Yeah I used my fingers (3 fingers) from the bump to the axle.

I was concerned the springs were getting weak.

I really dont know how much travel there should be. But I suspect a liitle sagging has been going on over 17.5 years I have been driving it.

It's a good thing I didn't read this out of context! ?

I have about 11 inches up front.  I guess the function of those is to keep from bottoming out the shocks and over taxing the springs.  I can't recall ever encountering a bump big enough to hit them...even when I was at stock height.

Some days you leave yourself wide open.

I know on the front of my truck the bump stops are untouched yet. As for the rear I've managed to load it heavy enough a few time to make contact on the bounce. I'll look in the daylight what my measurement are.
