Hello All. My P pump is shot. Wondering where I should get another one. Truck is a 96 5spd with 375k on it. My camper stays on the truck most of the time and I tow a 12’ single axle trailer maxed out. I want to stay with the stock turbo. Currently I have a BHAF, 4” exhaust, SAC 5x.011 145° injectors from power driven diesel, delivery valves(I think the marine ones but not sure), timing at 16.5 and my clutch will handle 350hp. 
 

My thoughts were a pump with 3K governor springs timed at 18° and whatever delivery valves make the most sense. I am in Moab Utah.

Why do you think the pump is shot? I'd find a decent shop in your area and have them do it unless your pump is broken in half. Otherwise, BD Diesel is a fairly decent rebuilder. They come in at around $1500 after they have the core.

 

18* seems a tad on the aggressive side for something you want to keep and drive daily that is otherwise stock. Tend to start running into head gasket issues if you are completely stock, and since you seem to want 3k springs, it won't be very useful to you. The manuals come with 3k springs.

 

On the delivery valves, I haven't heard of marine ones specifically, so, maybe they are 181's? If so, thats plenty to make upwards of 600hp. 

 

You could make 350 hp with no plate and those injectors with a boost elbow and ~16* of timing as the truck sits. 

You can get a pump from DAP as mention above. I personally like the injection shop rebuilders personally. I've got one in Lewiston Idaho which it is a 2 man team but like they said the old mechanical pump like p-pump are obsolete and getting more and more rare to even find them or anyone that want to rebuild them. They are now cutting hours back to only Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday because there is not enough business to keep them open any longer. Being everything is electronic now on CR engines or VP44 engines. 

I was putting governor springs in and rushing to beat the daylight and screwed something up because when I went to start the truck it made a God awful noise and then revved to the moon. Springs were all mangled. I hope I didn’t crack the governor housing. 
 

Anyone have any experience with Industrial Injection out of Salt Lake city? Guy I talked to there sounded very knowledgeable and a shop I know in California sends all their pumps to them. 
 

I will call DAP Monday. 
 

I thought advancing to 18° perhaps could get me a little better fuel mileage, but I am probably mistaken.

Not to hijack... i can match you. I fed my turbo a hose clamp. Yeah I know expensive mistakes.

 

DAP would be a good place to call and ask about rebuilders. You might look up in your area for injection pump rebuilders. I've got one that I like is Idaho Diesel Tech in Lewiston, ID.

I called DAP. They send all of their pumps to Illinois to be rebuilt. Industrial Injection out of Salt Lake City does it all in-house and have a couple guys who rebuild the pumps and they have an in-house welder as well. I’m leaning towards them as I have to drive to Idaho this week and could drop it off.

You might want to check this out you might be able to fix it just yourself since you're just dealing with the governor end of the unit and not the plunger calibration
