I think Iโ€™ll paint my valve cover while itโ€™s off for the head studs install. I donโ€™t really care about the looks too much, but if itโ€™s easy enough I was thinking of using the same color of the truck which is patriot blue pearl. I canโ€™t find that exact color in high temp. Will regular Dupli Color Exact Match spray paint work if I use a high temp primer and high temp clear coat? Iโ€™ll probably sand blast it to clean up the flaky oem paint.ย

I don't think the valve cover is much more than the standard 190*F to 210*F in temperature at the worst. It should hold up to the temperature being there is several other trucks with paint matched parts under the hood.ย

Oh I could have way too much fun with this but knowing it will cost a pretty penny for this kind of powder coating.

12 bucks a pound for that one. But you need to find a powder coater to spray and bake the part... Prismatic Powders does have a paint match type search but its I think a bit driven by consumers.. Meaning it relies on the buyers/powder coaters to tag it on the website as that color..ย

I might look into powder coating one of these days. Get an old oven, gun etc.., and go to town.ย :lmao:

How hard can it be right?:punish:

As with any painting, preparation is key. I know there is an off gas step that requires a pre-bake at like 450ยฐF to burn off all the oil and stuff then a sand blast.. There's a lot to it..ย

Yea I was being silly lol. There is alot to it and your correct, mostly the prep work. I think if a guy could get a decent diy setup and do some practicing, could make a pretty good side gig.

Not wrong. Hell I think I actually found a how to on how to make an oven from almost scratch for it as well on YouTube.

ย

btw nice garage setup you got there.

My nephew does it in his garage. Like was said, alot of prep work. I don't have the patience for it. Guess that's why I never worked in a body shop ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
