Harmonic Balancer

Posted

So I installed  new Clutch and now it has a small drive line wine. Nothing serious just noticeable. So I ordered the Fluidampr harmonic balancer from DAP. Anyone hear using one?
Yeah I know should have asked first. lol

I had one.  They are pretty much the go to damper for multiple classes of vehicle.

Never had to yet. The alignment dots are still lined up and the rubber isn't swollen yet either. Biggest thing is fix your oil leaks and do the crankcase vent mod. Then keeping the engine power washed and clean.

Yes did the mod, plan on taking my time finding all the leaks on that side of the eng. and fixing. Rear main was a problem, that helped stopping that leak. I'll get the new line for the vac pump. Thinking I'll pull pump and rebuild or may just buy rebuilt vac and steering pump. I'll be working on this truck for a long while, I'm already into this truck over 12k, not all parts, I did buy a new bed 6k installed. New frontend parts except ball joints, new vp, airdog, rear wheel bearings and seals, calipers, all new interior, rebuilt and balanced driveshaft, clutch and pressure plate flywheel, injectors, turbo. In other words am not stopping till its rebuilt. Ive always wanted a new to me 2nd gen and it had a good start when I bought it.

I put one on my 98.5 a few years ago. It made a noticeable difference, smoother at higher RPM. They will last longer than the OEM unit, and quells 1st and 2nd order crank harmonics over a much broader range.
