Thanks for such a great forum, I'm having a problem with my lift pump. First off, I have an 02 Dodge / Cummins. It has 354k on it and has gone thru 4 or 5 lift pumps over the years. The pump is located on the side of the block. The Dodge dealer wants 1100 bucks to install the retro conversion pump in the tank and after doing some reading, many folks are saying to just buy the Fass DDRP-02 replacement pump, so I did. With the pump all hooked up, it won't work. It seems to be an electrical problem. Now I'm thinking that when my truck stopped running the other day, it wasn't the pump at all, but this electrical problem I'm now having. When I plug a 12V tester in the connector that comes from the engine, the tester light comes on for a split second and goes off when I click the key on. That's all it does. When the pump is plugged in and I click the key, nothing happens at all. I tested the pump with 12 V's and it runs fine. I took the fuel "system system" relay out and plugged one of the others into that spot and that didn't do any good.Is there another relay somewhere that I'm not finding? Thanks.

Starting issues... I would look at battery cables and terimnal closely and do a voltage drop test first thing. If the ground cables are poor it could create all kinds of weird gremlins like the misfiring, odd lag of starting, etc.. http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/general/voltage-drop/voltage-drop.htm

A couple weeks ago when I charged my batteries up, I cleaned the cables real well. They aren't new but they are clean and getting good contact. Can you explain how to do a voltage drop test? Thanks.

You might check to see if you have a small leak in your fuel line. This has happen before or your fuel is draning back to the tank. GOOD LUCK

I had the fuel drain back happen; Once when I failed to tighten the fuel filter cap enough and again when I primed the system and did not tighten down the injectors enough. So you might check all that. They say you can break the plastic filter cap if you use the little square drive in the center. Your supposed to use the big socket instead. I think the filter cap is 25 ft. pounds but don't know what the injectors are.... just make them good and tight but not wrenched like a bull.
