Hopped in the truck to go hunting tonight cranked the blower up on high and just about crapped. This thing vibrated so bad I thought the dash was going to come apart.Everything sounds ok on the lower two speeds but when I put it on the third or fourth speeds I think I need safety glasses and a helmet.

bushings are hosed. i had gone through 3 resistor packs before i realized the fan motor was seizing from dust and crap ramping up the amps thus blowing the resistor pack. when u change the blower fan, its about $50 and you will need to transfer the squirrel cage if it isnt broken to the new motor and wire it in. replace the resistor pack if it shows any cracks as it is on its way out. takes about an hour total

Yeap it most likely a blower motor... When you do order a motor for it make sure its got a plug on it... I've seen a few cheap motors from different part houses require you to cut and place your old plug on the bolower motor...:duh:Thinking of that it might not be a bad idea to lube both of mine up again... Before the bearings get "hosed up"

It could be the motor... but it could also be a off balance mouse nest... HA HA! In the mouse cage, not bird cage, blower. You'll know as soon as you drop it.

Well..................Flagmanruss was right.I just pulled the truck in the garage to work on it and thought I'll crank it up (the blower) one more time before I start pulling it apart.I sounded like acorns fly around inside. So I drop the blower motor and sure enough 3 pieces of acorn stuck in between the fins on the squirrel cage and 17 whole ones sitting inside.It must have been the pieces of acorn in the fins originally because it just sounded out of balance. Must be a whole family dumping them in since.The truck used to be a garage ornament but I bought a new gas economy work car in May so now it sits outside. Didn't drive it for 5 months until hunting season. Now I gotta keep the dang mice out of it..................

Now, what you do is get some SS pot scrubber (SS steel wool). From under the hood, pack it in behind the hood hinges... so it covers the cowel drains... hidden behind the hinges. That's how mice get into the heater. It's not enough to keep water from draining & I've been out in some real down-pours.Voice of experience...

where is the blower located? Inside or out under the hood?

under the dash on the passanger side for the 2nd gen.

the blower motor will pull out from the bottom. there are 3 or 4 screws to take out and as I remember at least one is hard to get to, but other thatn that it is not to difficult. A Haynes manual has it covered or the FSM has it also.

u need a shorty phillips for the back screw and there are 3
