Destroyed a turbo with a hose clamp

:duh::doh::banghead:Yeah gang... I destroyed my turbo with a wire hose clamp. post-2-138698196468_thumb.jpg During my oil change and boost leak fixing I laid my BHAF on the workbench and inadvertently knocked a wire hose clamp in the BHAF from the peg board above. Installed the filter and took a ride. Boost kept getting lower and EGT rising whistle changed big time. Hua?! Went home to find the first pic and the 2 ears of the clamp in the BHAF. The rest of the ring I'm hoping is in the intercooler. :pray:Engine still runs fine... So I need a turbo... First and foremost.I know that S#!7 happens but man this make me sick... :sick:

I'm confused. Where do you think the ring was hiding after the damage? It could not have been in the BHAF as it is separated from the turbo by the hose. It might have been elsewhere in the system but it had to be beyond the intake hose or it would not have damaged the turbo. Or might there have been MORE unknown debris that went through.

I was in the BHAF. I've found all the piece of the hose clamp the two thumb tabs and the ring itself. After slinging it around a enough time it spit it back up into the BHAF. But I might not of seen the ring fall out when I pulled the tube off. But the 2 thumb tabs were inside the BHAF.

Well I'm going to get a good night's sleep and then get up tomorrow and give the ol' girl a proper cleaning and shining up. Knock off the winter grime and get ready for nice day ride to Ontario, OR or Boise, ID in the next day or so.

If you get close call me will meet for coffee if you have time... Proper cleaning time to wash as soon as the snow is gone and do under the hood just to keep it looking good
