Lots of guys out here run it. Some even year round. But I would switch back to 15w40 when it warms up. Welcome aboard!!! This is a great site!!

Amsoil is another oil to look into.......

I just bought this truck and the previous owner had run the 15-40 all the time! but he only ran the truck in the summer months! he told me to just run the 15-40 all year! but I was told by a buddy that has an 0, and I also believe that the 15-40 would be way to thick in cold temps and that should run the 0-40 in the winter months! and yes! run the 15-40 in the summer months!!Thanks guys

I run Amsoil synthetic 15w40 year around. It gets cold here and I don't even plug mine in until the temp hits about zero degrees f.

I've been running 15w-40 Mobile year round with winter temps as low as -20*F or so. I run the very same oils the bigger diesel truck run. :wink:post-2-138698196566_thumb.jpgAs for your extreme cold up there I would opt for a 0w or 5w for cold starting but I'm not a huge fan of synthetics oils.

An oil pan heater is another option. Silicone pad types work nice, or magnetic if you want something removable. Plug that in on a timer and you'll be sittin' pretty on those cold mornings!

thanks for the input guys!

Most people have their own experiences and beliefs. I run the 5w-50 year round without any issues. And as for here, the prices are the same as 15w-40Here's the manufactures recommendations for the 06.
