Anyone ever install an overhead console in a truck that didn't come with one? I've had the headliner down to install cab lights. No wires up there for easy connection.

I wonder if you couldnt just buy that part of the factory harness and plug it in. Probably have to get one out a wrecked truck or something like that though.

I bought an 01 gaser expecting to use the overhead in my 02 diesel. I'm expecting to have issues with plugging it in as I think the two harness set ups are different so may be best to find one out if the same year and engine truck.

The compas and outside temp.

GPS and Thermometer works way better. The overhead trip computer isn't even close especially after you modify the fuel system at all. Then you end up staring at +30 MPG.

I bought a Garmin GPS V, PanaPacific Temperature gauge, and a ScanGauge II and these 3 devices do a much better job than the overhead computer.

I have the overhead console connections, but no console there when I purchased the truck. So I guess it is probably better to get the regular console and not the fancy one that will be convoluted by the aftermarket fuel system and Smarty?

Is there a gauge pod that will work in place of the overhead console? I've had my eye on a 2" gauge digital thermometer. Would be nice to have at least 2 holes there.

Dont think anyone makes a pod for our trucks. I have seen some pods that mount on either side of the console along the top edge of the windshield but they were some off brand on ebay. Dont know how good they would be or if you could still use the visor.
