Posted June 20, 201410 yr I'm in need of one bad! Somehow the one I have broke. I can't find one just anywhere. It's the larger size clamp that hold the boot on the inter cooler.
June 20, 201410 yr Out of all those parts stores near Waco nobody has one? You may wind up getting one from the dealer there.
June 20, 201410 yr most autoparts stores don't carry them but if you have a truck parts place by you they should stock them.
June 20, 201410 yr Author I found a place nearby that might have them. Does anyone know the size of the clamp? Diesel Power Supply has clamps from 3"-7" they mainly deal with the bigger cummins.
June 20, 201410 yr Author I am going to that place at lunch and bring them my boot and see what they can do. I am pretty sure I need a 3.5" T-bolt clamp.
June 20, 201410 yr Author I used a dia caliper. Looks to be 3.3". Grip range 3-4" looks like it'd work. The new T-bolt clamp I have is 3.5" and it will work great, only problem is IDK if I can get my old spring back on there. I will try at least otherwise I was told it is not necessary
June 21, 201410 yr The new T-bolt clamp I have is 3.5" and it will work great, only problem is IDK if I can get my old spring back on there. I will try at least otherwise I was told it is not necessary Mine do not have any spriings on them and they hold just fine.
June 22, 201410 yr Author So I go the boot on Friday and I just want to say even with lubrication that was a massive PITA. I had to disassemble the hot side of the system so I could get it to line up and fit. It took me and another person to squeeze on that boot to the hot side pipe with the help of a small flat head screwdriver. I never cussed so much to put on a boot or a hose in all of my life. Anyways the old boot had a slight tear in it. After installing it all I found no difference in power, boost or anything? Kinda weird if you ask me..
June 23, 201410 yr Owner Secret... I used Zep Orange Degreaser on my silcone boots and the degreaser made the boots ultra slick and only lasts till the degreaser dries. Once dry those boots won't move a bit. I fight to pull them loose later one.
June 23, 201410 yr I used an impact wrench on mine and found out the hard way that was the wrong thing to do. The metal that goes over the little tabs on the bolt is very thin and the impact pulses slammed the tabs against the paper thin metal so much that eventually when I hit 35psi, it blew the clamp apart. Since then I ordered a spring loaded clamp to replace that one. It is rated at 100psi and the spring means it kinda sets it's own tension, but I no longer use an impact I don't think an impact should be used on any of the intake horn bolts either as I started to notice a little degradation in how snug the bolts were getting. I use it to get them down but I don't let it hammer, I do all the final tightening by hand now. I got the 100psi clamp from bddieselperformance.com for $7.60 on halloween 2011. I see they don't seem to sell them individually anymore and the places you can are charging $20 a piece. If you look hard enough I'm sure there are still some cheap vendors out there.
