July 2, 201410 yr Author What size hay bails are those? They aren't very consitant, but i'd say roughly 2 x 2 x 4.
July 2, 201410 yr They aren't very consitant, but i'd say roughly 2 x 2 x 4. In other words they are from a typical older baler.
July 2, 201410 yr Owner I WANT!!! Cow Chow or Horse Chow. Just bring them to Idaho lots of grass land to munch on...
July 4, 201410 yr We don't bale our own, but we buy round bales. We usually end up with 4x5 rolls, but we try to get the 5x6. 2 summers ago I helped a friend pick his hay up. There was 3 or 4 of us, and we hauled 1,400 bales from the field to the barn in 2 days. That was some work right there. It was the first week of August too... 100*- 102* outside.
July 4, 201410 yr You know, this reminds me of my first "real" job. I was putting up hay with those size bales for a penny a bale when I was 12 years old and thought I was rich!! That was 46 years ago..... Damn, now I feel old...
August 26, 201410 yr Dangit... I had our hay trailer on yesterday.. with 'made that day' green bales! Pretty as a picture hay! I should've had the camera out! LOL< same color pickup as yours, Maroon, but single cab... I have a Atchison mover, cradle type... self unloading. I can only haul 12 bales though. At 1750-1800#'s each, that's enough!
August 28, 201410 yr Author That was 14 bales, we were gong to put two rows on top but wasn't sure how much weight it would be , and didn't really want to meet up with the weigh cop to find out.

August 29, 201410 yr You were probably already at your axle rating so it's probably best that you didn't. And when you put 2 rows on top... ya gotta strap em down.. It's just as fast to go single row, take more trips... than fool around with straps! I used to do it that way, and it's almost guaranteed the top row will cave-out as soon as you release the binders!... I hate running for my life!!!
Hay season again
