  1. So a new 2022 3500 ho aisin srw will have a AAM 12 rear diff And a AAM 9.25 front diff And the rear will need two bottles of limited slip right?
  2. And the red dog in Naknek When i hit Nak in 89 I was coming off a d. Cougar cub. In wyo she was a beautiful woman 11 years my senior gone now park got her. I was her 5 th husband I think maybe 6 Anyhow I was 40 and 6 ft 6 250lbs just right for the bush. Not like that anymore old and tired But I lived my dream. Now will I love my new 2022 3500 ho aisin or not tell me true let’s talk trucks and not cetane anymore. But what injectors do you recommend to solve my problem. Remember coots in anchorage. We cheat the other guy and pass the savings on to you. Funny. Been to Idaho a couple times . Nice country. I really liked the back side of the Tetons Challis and Salmon was my favorite country Elmer Keith .44 m. Tried for a job there but no dice. Jackson Hole too but got turned down Boise was ok a little big for me. Lineman are like cowboys. We can always find a job. But if not we just move on hell at 71 I could still get a job just yelling at the rookies and keeping them alive retired 13 years. Union man and proud to be. Trucks now only I promise ise Well will I like a new truck ? .
  3. Yes John Durand Charlie’s Sport Shop I hunted big creek also I loved it up there. My favorite river is the nushagak river by dillingham. That’s why I moved there and a better job at nushagak electric. Good times. Moved to Anchorage in 1998. Still go king fishing on the nushagak every year in June Yes lots of bears up king salmon creek ahh the story’s and good times. And remember the white socks in king salmon. Horrible
  4. Small world I moved to Naknek from Laramie Wyoming in 1989. Lived on Leader Creek. Worked for Naknek Electric Hadfield and Fisherman’s Bar right on the end of the 15 mile road. Nice big Rainbows above Rapids camp king salmon in the Naknek at king salmon creek. My fellow worker and I went up king salmon creek. In a 14 Lowe riveted with a go devil on the back. I killed us two small bull moose in the same spot that day. 338 win mag ruger m77 wood and blue. 80 yard shots Lots of meat to bring down that little creek. Two three year old bull moose and two big lineman killed many caribou there too. Moved to DIllingham a couple years later. Met my third wife of now 21 years in Naknek. What years were you there Last time i was in Naknek was 2010 When the 3phase power line fell down to Charlie’s Sports Shop
  5. Sorry no bio diesel here. If I was going to keep the truck I would consider having the 275 hp rv injectors pulled tested and repaired or replaced. We have a shop here that would do it for me. My old friend and I originally put them in years ago so they most likely need attention anyway. So you were a commercial fisherman at some point in the passed. What town did you spend your summers ?
  6. We have a major Cummins dealer here. Detroit and Cat etc ships and fishing boats. Here have many towns and villages no roads to them no power lines. Diesel fired generators to make electricity for the school and a very few houses. Cummins here could not fix it Dodge could not fix it. #2 diesel in red jugs fixes it. I should have lemoned lawed it out but by the time I understood it was to late Sad story but very true
  7. 2 stroke oil is now also becoming kind of hard to find I called big dodge more then 20 years ago. When my truck was still stock. The guy I talked to said yes we are aware of this issue But we only have a handful of trucks in Alaska compared to all the rest. I ask what could be done. He had no ideas I then called the dealer in Fairbanks. They also knew about it. My dealer either did not know or would not talk about it. In certain northern places there is no #2 only #1. Fairbanks Tesoro and Glennallen Tesoro have #2 for semis with heated tanks going to the north slope. If you go to Fairbanks when it’s 40 below and go to a station it will be #1 I guarantee you Anchorage 350 miles to the south is 50/50 fuel until it gets colder -20 then it’s mostly #1 I know all this is very hard to believe. But I been there and done it. So more than 20 years ago when it started dying I took the truck back to the dealer several times for reprogramming etc. nothing helped. I was about to drive 220 miles each way to Glennallen and get some number 2 diesel but I knew a guy that had a 100 gallon tank of #2 in a heated shed that he only used in the summer. He was kind enough to give me 10 gallons #2 my truck was running in the garage with the door open and I started to dump the first 5 gallons in. Before I was done the whole sound of the truck changed the next 5 gallons went in truck never died until that blended tank was gone. My 1999 24 v needs the btu of #2 to have the rpms to put it in drive and reverse and not die. I was going to put a tank by my house but instead bought 20 5 gallon jugs problem solved. I need more #2 back then because I was driving to work etc more driving I now this story is very hard to believe but there is not something else wrong with this truck. These trucks were meant to have mostly #2. that’s it We have a major Cummins dealer here.
  8. My truck would /will die everytime you put it in drive or reverse on solid #1 I guarantee it
  9. And we have bio diesel here at all in Alaska. Bio diesel is used cooking oil I’m told. We do have low sulfur fuel. 2 stroke I think is a good for my truck as well
  10. Just got 7 — 5 gallon jugs of creamy good old #2 Antigel went in first. 35 gallons at a 5 gallon to 10 gallon pump fuel gives me 105 gallons at 15 miles to the gallon idling warming up gives me 1500 miles of winter driving in town for the winter. I keep my tank full of fuel until late fall November or so and when it starts to die I go to my special blend and it sees me to April when the #2 shows up again Been doing this for more than 20 winters now
  11. I think not using anti gel would be a mistake in Alaska. Sometime first to middle part of September the stations here will start selling winter fuel already here. I ask why so early they said we can’t have trucks equipment gelling up on our customers. 50/50 mix I’m sure to begin with. The reason I tried cetane in my 99 was to see if it would help with my dieing going into gear issues. My truck really wants #2 for the btu value to keep the rpms up when the 89 per cent DTT torque converter hits it then dies. My 5 gallon red plastic jugs with #2 and antigel stored outside and added to a ratio of about 10 gallons of pump fuel has worked for many years now. It’s a pain but it does work I also think 2 stroke oil is a good thing in these trucks as well . Almost all diesel fuel additives have anti gel cetane improvers lubricity additives etc. I don’t really know if you can just buy straight anti gel. So when my 99 was broke down for 2 months and I ordered a new truck I dumped all my jugs of #2 that I had left over in the spring. I was going to get new fuel #2 but have not expecting the new truck and selling the old before winter but since a 2022 might be here by Christmas or never I might have to drive the 99 all winter the red jugs come out today Antigel goes in each jug or it will wax sitting outside in the shed and off I go to fill them with #2 before the supply is shut off for the summer Life in Alaska
  12. Some stations mix 50/50 others do not. No source of #2 here in the winter. Antigel is almost a must
  13. I guess it’s wait and see at this point. Keeps life interesting I guess
  14. I guess it’s the radio antenna. It’s pretty huge
  15. So if I use 2 stroke to lube the pump what would be a good antigel. Mopar man says snow go oil but I’m having trouble how 1 ounce per gallon can keep it from waxing and plugging the filter. I think I understand pour point but I’m still confused. When I first had this truck new I used standyne like before they removed the sulfur fppf fuel treatment. But it has cetane as well I just need a pure anti gel what might that be
  16. Went by dealer today. Talk to the order man no trucks being built. Maybe mine end of month Mid. September delivery maybe. Nothing is certain at this point. He’s talking about cab change and box frame change Shortage of chips etc. He knows nothing and they Dodge are not talking. Anyway I noticed something driving around the lot. They have this huge thing above the cargo light on top the cab. Didnt measure it but must be 6 inches of something. These are 2021 trucks Must be satellite radio or something. Didnt take any pictures. It’s going to make retro fitting my old camper to a new truck not good.
  17. Very cool thank you Is this new stuff or has it been used in other applications How many years now in the dodge. Do other truck manufacturers use it too ?
  18. Very complicated. So 2 stroke is a very good idea. The cetane not so much. What about 5th gen new trucks 2020 and newer . Do they need additives or not. Anti gel for winter certainly
  19. So it is a true plate in the exhaust that flips over. Except is controlled by the computer and the transmission Just like what I paid a lot of money for years ago. Rebuild transmission and exhaust brake to be able to stop this truck and load. My last truck before the 99 24v was a 1983 Ford F 250 351 Windsor v8 4 speed 410 rear. Only would go about 60 mph down the hiway. Burned a lot of gas. My Wyoming truck I thought all trucks were Manuel trannys. All my work pickups. Etc silly me. So I should have bought a 5 speed but living in the biggest town I had ever lived by ten times Anchorage 280 k at the time decide to go auto not realizing when you let off on the gas was like putting it in neutral and yahooing it down the hill brakes be dammed. Stupid me. Anyway over the years in the city the auto has been nice and after hip surgery and two replaced knees it was a good choice all and all. Now you can’t even buy a Manuel anymore The two biggest problems with my 99 was to weak a transmission behind a powerful diesel which I think only had about 235 hp stock. It was dead and the stupid lift pump problem. DTT fixed the tranny BD the brakes and Rasp the lift pump. We had to fixed what the factory gave us I guess. The good old. Now you can just buy it from the factory $$$$$
  20. So what is bio mass I understand low sulfur I guess. Bio mass to a Alaskan is like the crabs they catch in alaska bio mass ? We have low sulfur fuel here also. Really doesn’t seem to affect the running of my 99
  21. You like the bio diesel in your 24 v then I’m original from Nebraska a very long time ago . Is bio made from corn then. I really don’t understand And how’s your truck run on it is it cheaper to buy ? Is it like ethanol in gas ? 10 percent. I know nothing about it I guess
  22. I’m still not real certain about the lack of use of anti gel in the winter yet to be honest with you. The 2stroke not cetane is I think a winner. What about the new trucks. 2 stroke or cetane anti gel ? I just got back from a up and down hill road trip. I think you might be right about the 2 stroke I dumped 32 ounces in a full tank. I really do think it likes it. Pulls hard sounds good. There’s nothing like pulling hard up a grade with a 24 v 2 cylinder jd tractors harleys Cummins and hemi sign me up
  23. So how does the tow haul really work on a 2022 truck? How does the exhaust brake work? My old 99 has a bd and 200 hp braking which works very well. Slows ten thousand pounds down going down long grades etc Will the new truck be the same ? Just got back from a 550 mile road trip. Some pretty serious grades up and down. Will I be disappointed in the tow haul mode for this ?
  24. Maybe it would have help with my dieing when putting it in gear. One time I was on a 2000 mile trip. With my wife and slide in camper in the Yukon. I stopped at a 3 bears. In delta junction Ak about 300 miles from home. Bought 10 diesel to fill up Green pump green nozzle said diesel. Said diesel on receipt. Wife is my witness No bathroom so I drove around back. In that short of time the sound of my diesel changed. I almost knew what had happened. Gasoline. I had always carried a quart of 2 Stroke oil. To build fires etc. behind the seat. I dumped the whole quart in trying to save my vp 44. Not much of a town. I drove on next place I added another 10 gallons of #2 trying to delute the mix Another 100 miles I was starting to loose fuel pressure I stopped you could smell the gas when you opened the filter drain a bit on your fingers. Well we made it the 300 miles home. Unloaded the camper pulled in my garage. Dumped the oil new filer New fuel filter You could smell the gas in the filter. I called 3 bears and talked to the owner He said his dad had filled the tanks and was very careful A day later the vp44 died. Had a good rebuilt $2 k put in. I sent the owner the fuel filter and the receipt He never offered to pay anything. That was the first 3 bears in alaska now there are several all owned by the same man. When I filled up there was 40 foot motor homes like covered wagons going thru town. Wonder how many pumps dad killed. At least I think the 2 stroke did help me get home Snowmobile oil. What a great idea And no waxing when you change the filter ? Interesting but the #2 doesn’t gel by itself ?
  25. So 2 cycle oil won’t hurt the vp44 pump makes btu go up cleans injectors. I need to still use antigel. So how much 2 cycle to 15 gallons fuel the half way on my gauge. Top half of the tank is for driving. Bottom half is to keep me warm in a raging blizzard. And what kind of anti gel would go good with the 2cycle oil
