  1. Mike being you are in the computer field maybe you could answer a question for me.This evening I was running some speed tests on various sites I use and no longer will it do the upload test only the download. I thought it might be a firewall problem as I have heard this in some cases. I disabled the firewall, rebooted the modem and router and it still won't do a upload test. Any idea what this could be and how to fix it. My download is great, over 10 meg. There must be a setting that isn't right.....I don't know.
  2. I'm asleep at the wheel. I read your post and didn't even notice the link at the top. :wow
  3. I read something similar to this in the Biodiesel Magazine. In the arctical Voltswagon said basically the same thing. I wonder what we are suppose to do when it is mandated to use in Minnesota. I'm glad I got the last of the 5.9 Cummins. It shouldn't affect me because I don't have a DPF. Here is the article. http://biodieselmagazine.com/article.js ... le_id=2290
  4. I guess you got to start putting a lock on your grease barrel now days LOL
  5. Your right Mike. Slowing down and lower RPM's is the key. You would think that the price of fuel would be enough insentive to slow down. I try never to be in a hurry when I'm driving somewhere. With camping and towing season coming up for me fuel economy is a the top of my plans when going down the road. Pulling a 8,000 lb. camper and a 7,000 lb. truck cruzing down the interstate at 75 mph just does'nt make sense but I see it all the time. :wow I have noticed even more of the big rigs are starting to run between 60-65 mph.
  6. Ya, from the looks of things here lately I'm probably the only one that read it. :wow
  7. I saw that one on Midwest Diesel Connection. It is pretty neat. It would be fun to go to one of those meets.
  8. Mike there is a good thread on the TDR forum. A bunch of guys are trying to get a grass root effort to combat the high diesel prices. It is just in the organizational stage right now but could prove to be interesting in the long run. Check it out if you haven't already. http://www.turbodieselregister.com/foru ... oblem.html
  9. I went to the dealer today and asked if there would be any issues as far as warrenty if I installed the ScanGuage. I showed him info on it that I has printed out. He said as long as it isn't a programmer then I should be ok.
  10. Would you know the dementions of the unit? I have two cubby holes in the dash and if it would fit in one of them then that's where I would like to mount it. I would drill a hole in the back of the cubby hole and run the cord through there. Also, how long a cord do they send with it? I know you can order a six foot cord but I don't think I would need that much.
  11. Mike, I was wondering about the Scangauge. Is it a simple plug and play setup? I am interested in getting on.Al
  12. Looks like he was doing about 120 mph on the Autobaun highway when he hit that one.

You guys have been dumped on for a few days now. At least you didn't get any of that tornado activity that was down south. I take snow any day before that stuff. We got about 4" snow Monday with a little freezing rain. That's the stuff I hate.

Hang tough. I'm sending you some of our sub-zero weather :mad
  15. They are piston rods. The hole on the bottom connects to the crank shaft. The hole on the top connects to the piston. The Cummins rod is bigger, better, stronger and is built to withstand the high output of this great engine. :thumbsup
  16. Same to you. I too am going to play it safe. I'm staying home as I have done before. Not worth going out. This is amature nite :nono
  17. Thanks Mike that is very usefull and interesting information. :thumbsup Al

Pretty much the same thing down here Tom. We have about 6-8 inches of the stuff on the ground. This morning it was -6*. The new truck has been starting great not plugged in but when I do plug it in the heater grid does not come on so I think it helps quit a bit. Al
  19. Looks like I have been doing some overkill and wasting my money. The engine does seem to run quieter with the 2 cycle. I noticed that Duluth Diesel runs a cocktail also and I believe he stated that he also buys B5. Oh well.By the way how are you doing with your jar testing with the samples that Chuck sent you?
  20. Mike I am wondering where I stand as far as the manufactures basline stantard?I buy fuel that is 5% biodiesel. I add 9 oz. of PS and 1 oz./ gal of the Super Tech. This is based on the 35 gallon fill. The way I got it figured is that I meet the standard and then some.We are also into the blended fuel right now and it is 20% #1 fuel.
  21. Your right that is very strong. I checked with the transport driver and he said it was 20% #1 fuel. I must have been thinking about anti-freeze. I also asked the driver why 5% bio-diesel when 2% is the mandate. He said that Murphy gets a bigger tax break the more bio-diesel they put in. I don't know for sure but bio-diesel in Mn must be state subsidized like ethenol. Anybody know for sure?

This is my first winter with my new truck so there shouldn't be too much to do. They have now put in the winter fuel up here (50/50). I have a little ps to mix in the fuel and will be using 2-stroke oil.Can we run the Walmart 2-stroke in the winter or do we have to run snowmobile oil?

I have a cousin that lives in Lewiston. I might be going out there next summer to visit after I take out a bank loan for fuel. :mad

Were a little slow to catching up with you guys. Been $3.29 for a week now but I am sure it will continue to rise :drool
  25. It's 2% mandated here in Mn. I heard the governor talking here a while back about making 20% mandatory in 2009. The station where I buy my fuel is the cheapest place for me to buy fuel and it is 5% bio. Also today this station started their winter mix. 50/50 diesel.
