V10 to 24v 47re swap?
I was lurking around the interwebs this evening and found a guy selling a used 47re out of a 99 2500 with the V10. He claims it was rebuilt 3000 miles ago and with a torque converter and valve body swap would bolt up to the 24v, can anyone confirm that? I'm looking at have some transmission upgrades done in the coming year and can't really afford to have my truck sit for days on end while a shop does the work. So I was thinking about buying a used 47re and having it built then swap it out with whats in the truck now.

2014 Alloy Rims on a 1998.5
Wont that much of an offest kill your front wheel bearings? Back in 2008 I ran a set of 1 inch offset aftermarket rims on my 01 24v and in a year had to replace both front hubs..

Quick fuse questions
In the fuse box under the hood of an 02 24v I'm looking for a fuse that only has power when the key is in the on position. I don't have a light tester, just reading the fuse lables on the inside of the fuse box cover I could probably take a wild guess, but I figured I'd ask here real quick just to make sure.

Intake elbows?
I'd be interested in talking to him. What happened to the Dave G. transmission?

Intake elbows?
My truck is an auto. I was planning on upgrading the valve body and going with a tripple disk converter before I went to crazy with the power. At what point is a billet input shaft required? As for injectors I was looking at the rv275's but open to suggestions. Is the BD exhaust manifold that the 3 piece one? Its been a few years since I've had a diesel so I'm having to relearn and dust off what I do remember.

Intake elbows?
I'm in no rush to buy anything, just trying to figure out what I want to do with the truck. My goal is to be around 500 hp but still be able to tow when need be.

Intake elbows?
I found those Pusher kits after starting this thread last night, after reading some about them I'm tempted to buy one. Is there any real benefit to a setup like that on a stock truck? As far as that tunnel ram goes, does that eliminate the grid heater?

Intake elbows?
Are aftermarket intake elbows all that their cracked up to be, or are they more less a fancy engine dressup?

Tow package wire harness.
Tom I might take you up on that. My FASS showed up yesterday, after I get it installed the trailer harness is next on the list.

Tow package wire harness.
I'll have to check out LMC or Reese. The harness thats on the truck has been modified, and doesnt work worth a darn.

Do a google search for BHAF on 3rd gen cummins. There are a few of them out there.

AirDog 150 in cold weather
Excellent idea. Kind of an out there in left field question, but have you guys ever thought about wrapping your tanks in that heat tape you can put on your roofs to prevent ice jams? Plug it in at night and it would keep your tank warm preventing gell...

AEM Dry Flow BHAF Thoughts? pros. cons.
BHAF all the way. Hard to beat 100,000 miles on an air filter. As Tom pointed out you can get them cheaper by shopping around. CPP has them for $52.23 and they sell outerwears prefilters for them too, which would probably help extend the life of the filter even longer.

Tow package wire harness.
Anyone know of a place that sells aftermarket or even factory towing wire harnesses for trailer lights, besides the dealership?

AirDog 150 in cold weather
Back in 2007 i put an AD100 on my truck. That winter temps dropped down to -25 and my pump would hardly build pressure.Everyone said it had jelled, so I treated the fuel with no luck. When the truck finally started and I got half way to work, everything just quit. Turns out an o-ring on the back side of the pump shrunk in the cold allowing the pump to suck air, allowing it to loose pressure buring it out. Jump a head to now, when my new FASS shows up I'm going to wrap it up or buy that heater kit and keep it warm.

The 200 vs 190 thermostat expierment thread.
My cummute to work is about 22 miles, the truck makes heat in the first 8 or so miles just doesnt build any temp on the gauge. This truck was from the southern part of the state and by the looks of it wasnt driven in the winter months, so I'm assuming its only got a 160* thermostat in it. My last 24v was a 5 speed and would litterly roast you outta the cab in 5 miles. I work with a guy who recently got a 99 24v, and his drive to work is 2 miles, he drives that truck every day.

Any hot rodders out there?
Tom and I have know each other about 7 years. Scary how fast times flies. Some day I'd like to take a trip to Bonneville and watch the time trials. I'm real good friends with the local PD. heres what I started with.

Anyone into the hot rod scene? Started building this in 2010 and "finished" it last year. Body is a 31 Ford, engine is a 69 Chrysler 440 TNT thats been bored .030 over.

The 200 vs 190 thermostat expierment thread.
The day I bought my truck it was around 40 degrees outside and I drove it home 4 hours, temp never really broke about the 160 mark on the factory gauge. I made a winter front that covers just the radiator and my temps still only read around 165-170 with normal driving. A few trips down the interstate at 68-72mph and I can reach 180 ish but on my return trips the temp wont break 165. I bought a 190 thermostat from napa last week but havent had time to install it, after reading this I'll probably spring for the 200* instead. I usually fill up about half a tank (about 300 miles) and my mpg's have been steady a 15 to 17 (hand calculated). Its been in the teens and single didgets in the mornings, and I usually let the truck high idle before I leave in the mornings and before I leave work in the afternoon. Maybe Friday I'll take a drive out to Cummins and pickup a 200* thermostat and see what kind of a difference that makes.

Airdog quality
Thanks for the input on pumps, I just ordered a FASS 150 and drawstraw from CPP.I have a feeling they'll be seeing a lot more of my money..

Airdog quality
When the airdog I had worked it was awesome, I never saw much if any drop in pressure between idle and wide open throttle, but then my truck was for the most part stock. It did seem to loose some psi in the colder weather. Is there a site sponsor you guys recommend buying a FASS from?

Airdog quality
Hows the FASS system compare? Back when I installed my original Airdog I heard the FASS pumps were known to leak. I've been doing some reading on the FuelBoss, so far it sounds more reliable than any electic pump on the market.
