In need of an exhaust manifold
Hi all... I discovered two cracks in my stock manifold. I have searched here and could not find too much... Can someone recommend a replacement for me? I would like to put something in that I do not have to worry about again and perhaps something with a port already installed for my EGT probe. I do not plan to add any performance upgrades... except maybe 75-90hp injectors down the road when these get tired. Thanks in advance..........

Sputtering - Edge Comp related?
Thanks for your reply... I did check the alternator (which is new as of a couple months ago) for AC noise.. and all is well there. There are no other symptoms that suggest it is AC noise. I'm going to do away with the Edge and just run the Smarty.. which I have always favored anyway.. and go up a little bit with injectors and be done for awhile. Thanks..........

I just disconnected the Smarty and ran just the Edge. I am only pulling my roughly 2000# trailer vs my 7000# camper... I couldn't get it to sputter climbing a grade. I guess I will have to wait til I pull the camper to test again... Oh well. Thanks for the replies....

I think something is wrong with my Edge... This past weekend I took a trip up to Connecticut with the camper. Under normal acceleration and driving I don't notice a problem.. but when I'm up around 65 mph and I try to accelerate up a grade I can feel the truck sputter a bit. I turned off the Edge and the problem went away. I was running the Edge on 2/3 and my Smarty is set to 2. Is the Edge starting to fail? I haven't checked for codes yet...

I decided to start with the 30" FTE stainless resonator which I received in the mail today. Couple of questions... would it be best to have this thing welded in place or just use band clamps? Does it matter which way it goes on? It doesn't appear to be directional and have not read such.....

Well... finally finished the front brake job. learned as I went that bearing/hub assembly had to come off as one.. PITA! Bought all new/reman rather than rebuild calipers.. all Napa Ultra Premium. See what happens.. hopefully no more brake work for awhile! Thanks!!!!

Mike.. if this caliper was replaced.. and the problem still exists.. is there something else going on here? These were brand new pads 6 months ago (less than 10k miles) Seems pretty severe to me. No noticeable issues until this week when I could hear some squealed in the last week and the hard pull just started today.

Well... after finally getting the rear brake problems under control about a month ago.. my front started acting up (noticeably) as of yesterday. When I bought this truck back in September... the previous owner was replacing the front passenger caliper the day I was picking it up. Said it was sticking. When I had the front hard lines replaced back in.. I think.. November... I had the front pads replaced (both sides - with Adaptive) because they were considerably more wore down than the driver's side as the previous owner didn't replace when he did caliper. Fast forward to yesterday and today as I started to hear scraping/grinding and felt a considerable pull to the left today. Took things apart this evening and this is what I found... on passenger side.. driver's side look decent Back side of rotor... I'm shopping for new pads, rotors and calipers. Does anyone have any suggestions on brands? I'm really getting tired of dealing with brakes...................... Can it be anything other than the caliper? I replaced the soft lines a couple of months ago.

Thanks for correcting me.. yes.. cardan joint.. sorry. However... I did have a vibration coming from it.. as the joint was in so bad of shape it carried any engine vibration or road vibration right through it. Maybe a different vibration than a spinning shaft.... now stop hassling me

Just want to chime in.. mine is a 99 and just because it doesn't spin.. it did have a vibration due to the cv joint being shot.

I wasn't really going for cup holders when I made my change. I was looking for more storage. Pricey but fit my needs :-)

HELP... rear brake issues
I hope so too... and beginning to believe so after driving all over kingdom come today.. with not a hint of a problem. I only felt the front pull once today.. I replaced the front hoses a couple of weeks ago. I think it's in one of the calipers. Maybe the driver's side is the one that's not right. If it gets worse.. I'll replace both. Thanks again!!!

Well.. system was bled and was clean as a whistle. Drums were cut and very little was taken off. New Napa Ultra Premium shoes installed... cha-chingand............................................... ...........I don't want to get too excited yet... but... after an hour and twenty minute drive all over Carroll County (man oh man.. lots of cops out there!)... nothing. So far.. so good. Fingers crossed! So.. my thought right now.. is bad/crap shoes. Time will tell...

Yes.. smaller shoes are and have been forward. Thanks a million for every reply. Will report back later... fingers crossed :-) Edit BTW.. I am still having an issue with my front right brake putting out twice the brake dust over the left.. and does have a slight pull to the right but not all the time. It's nit enough to pull me off the road but does turn the wheel a little. Is there any correlation between the two issues?

Okay.. like I said.. I'm having drums turned again.. new Napa premium shoes and a flush. If I still have the problem after this I will unhook the ABS. I believe it's a 4 wire plug that I did have unplugged but it did nit effect my Speedo.. just had brake light and ABS light come on. If that doesnt work I'm putting in new master cylinder... then new proportion valve. Ugh

HELP... rear brake issues
They got warm but not hot yesterday.. I could keep my hand on the drum.. I guess it would depend how hard I use them as to how hot they get though... because other times they've gotten pretty hot. I have two wheel abs.. wouldn't a light come on if abs was acting up? And how would it actuating cause my shuddering and locking up/grabby issue?

I'm finding this whole situation hard to believe.. it's becoming a nightmare to me. I'm hoping it's the shoes.. either just a crap set or maybe they are contaminated. Not sure if contamination is visible... never dealt with it before. edit: Can the master cylinder be a problem? I mean.. if it's not functioning properly.. it can cause drag in the braking system.. no? I have no idea what a brake booster does... can it be a problem?

Did what you said the time before this and the wheels did move freely.. and cracked the lines open.. no pressure. The system is going to be flushed (again.. I think) and new drums and shoes. I'm thinking.. Adaptive One from Napa. And like you said.. If this doesn't work... the weight sensing valve will go back in... but I have to find one as all I can find of my old one is the rod.
