So I'm going to be making a thing.
I’m going to use a receiver hitch d-ring instead of mounting anything on the bumper. Thanks and I definitely have. The real test will be welding it all up without making it look like crap lol.

So I'm going to be making a thing.
I’m sure with the correct measurements I can modify the design to fit a 3rd gen. Hopefully I will have everything finalized this week and the parts cut and shipped to me sometime next week. Once I know for a fact that my design is sound and all the kinks are worked out we can go from there.

I’m going to add several internal gussets for strength and rigidity. The internal gussets I’m adding will prevent any distortion so long as I don’t go nuts when welding it up. I will also be using a lot of tack welds on the smaller, more intricate parts. The plan is to mount four, 4” square LED lights in the bumper as backup lights. I however will NOT be using Rigid brand lights as there is no way in hell I’m spending $400 on four small lights. I’m going to be using a receiver hitch D-ring like this instead of adding them to the bumper. I’m sure he would. I can find out what he would charge if you are serious.

I like the first one better than the second but the third one is my favorite. The guy who is cutting this out for me encouraged me to push myself and see what I could do. He said small, intricate cuts are cake with a CNC laser so feel free to go wild and design whatever I want. It’s been about two weeks since I started playing around with CAD software for the first time in my life and I’m not ashamed to say I’m damn pround of myself for designing this thing.

So I'm going to be making a thing.
It's a browser based program so there's nothing to download. The free version is full featured but everything you make is public. It's not an issue for me but I'm also not designing something that could be the next big thing lol.

Thanks. I've really taken an interest in this and find it enjoyable. Another night of not being able to sleep so I made this. Surprisingly that damn thing was a PITA to make lol.

I'm using a browser based CAD program called Onshape. https://www.onshape.com/

Yes, it even tells you how much material you will need. Your able able to fine tune things and experiment with dimensions and angles until your happy with the end result.

I've spent the last week trying to learn how to use CAD to design my bumper. So far this is what I have.

I'm trying to figure out how the impact sensor pic ended up in this post. I asked about that in a different thread over a week ago lol. I'm going with 3/16" for most of it but will be using 3/8" in some places for increased structural strength.

Teardown and Rebuild
Nice truck man, congrats!

It's close to how I want it and yes the license plate recess is off center because I goofed lol. I will be able to have everything cut with a CNC laser thanks to a guy I met at Cola Warrior. Also what is this?

Best most affordable extended control arms
DOR makes some VERY high quality parts. I've had his track bar on my 96' for a few years now and would buy it again without hesitation . The main issue with DOR (at least in the past) is that it's a one man show. If something is in stock he will get it shipped out within a day or two. If it's not in stock, well, good luck.

What are these for?
Yeah, all the warning lights are trashed in my truck. I really need to go to a salvage yard and see if I can find all the little odds and ends that are missing on my truck.

Morimoto HIDs Headlights in a 2nd Generation Dodge
@Explosives87 I went with the H1's as they are much easier to install and put out a ton of light. I would also highly recommend you order the retro rubber adhesive. It's only $12, makes reattaching the lenes stupid easy, and one roll will do about 4 of our headlights.

Morimoto HIDs Headlights in a 2nd Generation Dodge
I got them from Amazon. SPPC Crystal Headlights Black With Corner Light For Dodge Ram - (Pair) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JBIAC3W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_6N2HU7OzdHBNS Do NOT even bother using them without the projectors as the reflectors are complete trash. They also have these stupid caps that cover the tips of the stock halogen lights that need to be removed. They are held on with a single philips head screw so removing them is easy. After they are removed you will see a pillar which must be cut off in order for the projectors to fit properly. The chrome reflector scratches VERY easily so either be really careful or do what I did and paint it matte black. All in all they work great with the projectors and are pretty cheap at ~$80 shipped.

What are these for?
Well, the right one has a broken plug so I guess I should probably fix that lol.

What are these for?
I only have a drivers side airbag.

What are these for?
What are these for? There's one on each side on the bottom of the inner fender well below the headlights.

Morimoto HIDs Headlights in a 2nd Generation Dodge
I switched pins and now everything is as it should be. I'm currently removing the relays I had installed to keep from melting my headlight switch since they are no longer needed and happen to be located right where one of the ballasts needs to go.

I don't know why I didn't think of that. It would make sense if the low beam and high beam pins were switched. I'll check it out in the morning, thanks!
