  1. Has anyone swaped a auto to a manual? How much did it run you to do it? I want to do this in the future and want to get some ideas on what I am looking at here. Is it a do it yourself or do you have to have someone do it for you. i am mechanically inclined but not an trained mechanic. Any idea on this. Thanks:thumb1:
  2. Thats what i needed to know. Thanks:cool:
  3. I got an 01 2500. Want to know what front axal I have?
  4. I was looking at getting an exhaust brake and was pretty disopointed at the cost to get one. Has anyone ever tried making a homemade one with success? I run a auto and I was thinking can I just use the pull cable style to engauge and disengauge the brake? Sceems like that would be eaiser if you remember to disengauge it. I have already got the TC lockup switch. If anyone has done this maby you could share your blue prints on how you did so and what parts you bought. Thanks Tim
  5. OH yep you got me . I would like to have an standard but the dealer sold the one I wanted that had a 6 speed in it. ANYTHING was better than the 6.0l powerstroke I traded off. So you all think a TC and a valve body with help. BTW What does a valve body do anyway??
  6. I thought an auto could hold more HP. Maby I am wrong. ---------- Post added at 07:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:23 PM ---------- Not sure I am mechanically inclined enough to swap a auto with a standard. It would probually cost more to do a swap than to get a billet converter i would think.
  7. Well maby I wont. Will a triple disc billet torque converter handle anything I can throw at it. Not going to be running anthing over 430HP. 800 some FT LB of torque.
  8. Yea thats where I was going to get it was off a bus that has the 5.9l Cummins and the allison. That should be able to just swap out I would think since a 5.9l Cummins is a 5.9l CUmmins even thought there in a dodge.
  9. I was just looking around because I have heard The allison is suppost to be the best tranny. True/False.
  10. I was thinking today why mess around with the junky 47rh auto trans if I could maby swap it out with an allison? I think fordcummins.com sells adapter for the cummins to mount up to an allison when you swap a psd with a cummins. I might be able to get my hands on an allison for pretty good price. Is this worth the trouble? Would I have to beef up the allison also to run BIG hp? I know my stock auto trans will not hold up to the power I am wanting to get. So I can either beef up the dodge trans or if I dont need to beef up the allison I could go with that. Any suggestion??? Just thought I would search around. Thanks
  11. Who makes those triple disc TC's? Does Banks Power make on? I thought I seen a TC on there website but I would have to look and see if its a triple disc. What is the weak link in the Autos when it comes to HP? The TC or something else? ---------- Post added at 05:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:09 PM ---------- WOW!! I just looked up the Banks torque converter with the milti-disc and it was prices at $1400. I wasn't planning on it being THAT Much .
  12. How much did you spend to have it beefed up?
  13. I am looking into beefing up my auto transmission. Anyone have any suggestions on a strong trans to hold up to moderate HP upgrades(120hp max). I dont think my stock can withstand a hole lot of extra horse. Any Idea's??? Thanks
  14. Thanks but I just spent all my money on a new lift pump. I might try to get one on my next paycheck. I rather get a brand new one!! Just me. Thanks for the help man.
  15. Is over 20psi good? My new pump runs about 20 most the time but goes over that some time for a while. sShould I turn it down a bit?
  16. I feel much better now its running 20psi. .
  17. $399 + Tax I got her all installed in less than 2 hours. Got my pressure up to 20psi right away. It hardly drops at WOT. like 2-3 psi. Thank you guys for all the help. Got the Raptor 150 and it works great. Thanks. I got the gauges Fuel pressure, boost, trans temp.
  18. I talked to an airdog dealer about the raptor 150. They said it would work on stock engines also. What do you guys thing about that. I want the 100 but they got the 150 on stock and ready for me to pick up if I want it. And for only $10 more why not:shrug:.
  19. I got to thinking today. Is it posible that the overflow valve on the VP is stuck open and letting the pressure drop. I not real familuar with injection pumps so forgive me if this sound stupid . Maby thats why my fuel pressure is low. I just thought of that today for some reason. Is it posible?
  20. Verry good point never thought of that.
  21. I supposs all that wouldn't make up to much weight anyways so If I can i guess I will just leave it on there.
  22. When I install a new lift pump do I remove all the old fuel lines and the old lift pump or can I just leave it on there?
  23. Well I guess I will have to order a lift pump and cross my finders the VP44 is not damaged. ---------- Post added 04-25-2010 at 08:11 AM ---------- Previous post was 04-24-2010 at 09:20 PM ---------- How do I know whether or not my truck has the in tank pump also. I was looking at raptor lift pumps and they had one that came with a suction tube or draw straw with the modles that had a pump in the tank. I belive I located my lift pump on the side of the block. Is this the only one in the line or could there be one in the tank?
  24. I sure hope the VP44 is not damaged. I am going to replace the lift pump with a Raptor 100. Everything that is going on leads to a lift pump going bad right. Any other lift pumps that are recommended as a real good pump that will last. I really like the raptor because its adjustable but then WHAT DO I KNOW>
