What all is involved in replacing that bearing? What harm would it do driving the truck with that not working right? Anything?

Hooking up my guages.....HELP
you gonna have fun with the fuel pressure I couldnt get mine to work for nothing.. I used a mechanical one which sounds like what your useing.. After the isolator I had nylon line that you were to fill with non freezable liquid.. I did that only it kept getting an air bubble in there and throw my gauge way off.. Maby I was doing it all wrong but I just got rid of it and got an electronic one. Best of luck

nv4500 Noise
Sceems as if it does it louder when its cold.. Anyways whenever I push the clutch in makes a rattle noise. Asked around and someone told me my throw out bearing could be bad.. Thought Id ask on here see what you all thing... Next is 3rd gear is a pain in the ___ to get into using the clutch.. I can go thro all gears with out the clutch no problem but using the clutch seems as if it hesitates to get in there.. I got the south bend dual disk clutch so i thought maby that could cause it to be harder. Any thought would be appreciated

Transmission Idea's
Just an update I did end up swaping the 47re with a nv4500 out of a 99 Dodge Cummins. With it I got the South Bend double disk clutch rated for 650hp and 1100 ft lb I believe. So Far I LOVE it. --- Update to the previous post... Also wanted to thank everyone for the ideas and tips. I am pretty happy with the choice of the manual over the built up auto.

So If I found a 5 speed 24v I could put that computer in mine if I did the swap and it would run same as the one I got only for a 5 speed? Right --- Update to the previous post... then I could have the 5 speed and not have to deal with the reflash of the computer on mine cuz i heard hore stories bout that not working.
-

quick question. 98.5-99 24v had 5 speeds right? I could use the computer outta one of them and then I wouldnt have to have it reflashed --- Update to the previous post... Then I could buy a donor quad cab long box so i could use all the drive shafts and all and then swap my computer out with that one so its already set for running the manual. What other years and makes could I find this 5 speed in. I almost want the 6 speed cause thats what woulda came in my year of truck. Ive seen some around that have 5 speeds and 6 speeds.. Whats the deal with that.

please tell me more about 2 cycle oil
wow your only gettig 18-19 mpg in a 2wd truck.. Im getting 18-20mpg in my 24v 4x4 auto.

How would I get my computer on my truck to work with a manual.. do you just unhook the transmission wires? Wouldnt it be trowing codes. I was thinking if i did do the swap could I just take the computer out of lets say a 98.5 dodge that had the 24v and the 5 speed in it and put that computer in my truck instead of reflashing the computer i got? Whats your opinion on that matter. Has anyone here actually done that swap?
-
Transmission Idea's
Now Ive heard people go both ways when it comes to the swap.. Ive heard people say the nv4500 is not a good swap but the nv5600. Heard it go both ways so my question is whats the way I should go.. I was thinking on buying a wrecked 5-6 speed dodge. Id just swap the computers instread of having to reflash mine.. so how would the nv4500 work if it was out of a non computer truck. Sounds like the nv5600 out of a 01 like mine would work the best but Im not sure..

what do you think the better way to go for the money is? a swap or a billet auto:shrug: --- Update to the previous post... I dont mind changing gears im young so thats not a problem.. Ive always wanted a 5 speed but the truck I was gonna buy with it sold the day I got there to check it out. only one they had left was the auto and anything was better then the 6.0l powerstroke I was fixing all the time

well I ment to say I was NOW lookin for tranny idea's. Last time i checked a beefed up ATS tranny cost round $5000. If I could get a whole salvaged dodge cummins with the 5 speed for $3000 id have round $1400 in lobor to do the swap. then Id just need a better clutch.. No im not into raceing or pullin sled's I just want something reliable and strong

Transmission Idea's
well Im not starting to look into tranny idea's.. I think i could almost swap it out with a 5 speed and save some money.. an ats tranny runs bout 5k not including labor. I got a friend who said he would swap it for $1400. So whats my best bet.. I always wanted a 5 speed and Im running an edge comp so I been told a stock clutch wont last long with that. I wanna get it to where it will handle let say 500-600Hp. Future plans are to build the motor up next year. SO whats your guys input?

Looking for turbo idea's
I got the BHAF, Edge comp, 5in turbo back exhaust, HX35, did have gauges but sold em to get some new ones and havent got them yet. I saw max on this hx so far bout 25 psi. --- Update to the previous post... I got to build up my tranny.. I cant even run the box on 5x5 in overdrive just tap it a little and its slipping the converter. no fun.. cant punch it or lug it down then get on it..

What are you running to get that much power.. certanly not stock.. haha

Looking for turbo idea's
I ended up just keeping the hx35 i put on it.. Put a new gasket on the bottom oil return line and stoped the oil leak i had.. It spools alright..I think the egt gauge I had wasnt working properly cause i got a new egt gauge in it now and read MUCH lower then the hy. runs bout 600 most the time and if i stay on it long enough it will get to 1000* but take a awhile. Havent had it over 1000* with a edge comp on 5x5. So im happy with it.. Thanks for asking. --- Update to the previous post... egt gauge I had on it before was reading 800 all the time and hit over 1000* easy with the same turbo only truck was stock. Now I can run edge Comp 5x5 and still be in save zone.

I thought it was from a 01-02 hx35. But turns out its from a 96 and eveything was different. the oil tube was different the elbow was different. I made it work but I need one from my year of truck. And the wastegate was in the way of everything. It dont spool worth a crap and my egt are bout the same as my dang hy. I think my egt gauge is crap and not reading correctly. I got the bhaf and 5" exhaust and it didnt make much difference in egt. Shoot im running the truck stock right now and can still hit 1000* without trying. And Im not even pulling anything. Im not mashing the gas either. Maby I should stick with my hy but that hx exhaust houseing it huge compared the the hy so I dont know. Maby ill do away with both and just get a bigger one. I just hate to spend $1000 just for a turbo. But then again i got an exhaust brake(banks) coming so I better keep the turbo stock or it wont fit.

Is there a bigger direct replacement turbo to where you dont have to buy special down pipes? I wont run over 350hp.
