Quadzilla Adrenaline V2 Testing
Well the wife was with me today and I was able to get her to pull a few sets of data with the truck loaded. @Me78569 I can't completely support this thought through the data which sucks because I was really hoping to get something good, but I believe that in some circumstances lower timing will actually reduce EGTs. The problem is finding a spot where the timing was jumping a round a little and load as well as egts are somewhat level. Very hard to catch and extremely hard to produce when driving. If I had more time and less crappy weather I would try to pull the same hill twice with stock vs high timing to see what difference it would make but unfortunately we just didn't have the time today. I tried comparing the load data but it's all a wash from that stand point. Nothing consistent that I can see. With that said I was able to pull this out of the hat. Very minor but you can almost pick out the little blimps in timing and how it pulls the egts down ever so slightly. The tune is below Just thought you might find some of this interesting. Feel free to glaze over some of it. More of just a data dump. Stock PL0 data below So the averages don't compare too much simply because of the speed. On most of the other accounts though it's a pretty good comparison of what the truck is doing with timing while somewhat cruising with an extremely heavy load ~20k. It's amazing how low it pulls the timing. Seriously makes me wonder what the purpose of this was and what the engineers were thinking. Maybe for more of a protection thing who knows. Fuel mileage was mixed but I pulled 13.4mpg out of this tank which is a lot better than I expected. And overalls for the data I pulled that's above:

Do you have an ETA on when the update will be pushed?

Haha I'll take more power for free any day! So Max was 50, so a difference in 8 psi. I'm with you on it not being too big of a deal and trust me it doesn't worry me one bit considering what the truck use to run at.

Timing timing timing = awesome. First day in a while that I haven't been pulling something and finally did a few rips with the new timing. And just as a comparison of raw values Old Tune And from today's run. So funny story here... I noticed I was losing ECM voltage slowly through the data which you can tell a little from the first data chart and the one right above... Turns out I had a bad battery but would have never thought twice about it unless I was data logging. CCA tested out below 100 amps haha needless to say it was gone and was replaced earlier this week. That and now my fuel pressure is starting to bug me the more I see in the data where it dropped to 8-9 PSI during some of those pulls. @Me78569 I hate to bring this up, but I think the upper end of the boost pressure reading is either showing a little bit of an error or the cold air is effecting the overall pressure. You know my data fairly well and never have you or I seen over 42 psi, well that is until recently. I have this set of data then yesterday's where I pulled numbers over 45psi. Any thoughts? I've included the data below. No rush, just seeing what you thought. New Timing WOT 12-08-2016.xlsx Hard Acceleration 10-30-2016.xlsx

Already tried that and it still just felt/looked to be a little too early to me. Again, I didn't feel any surging but I felt like it ramped up super quick and even in daily driving conditions. Who knows, maybe it's just me. Might also be that I have a stick and use a little more of the RPM range for daily driving then you or Tyler.

@Me78569 yes and it was well.... Stupid hahaha Needless to say it fuels fairly hard and will only be used for special occasions. I was hoping to get some more video today but it's looking like it's going to rain all day so probably not going to end up happening. I'm probably going to bump the timing just a little to max out timing in the top end. I was trying to stay a little conservative in those tunes because the first time I drove it the ramping almost scared me and I couldn't figure out how to stretch the scaling or make it so it wouldn't ramp so quickly. Never experienced any surging but watching how quickly it would push timing up was crazy. Any suggestions on making it so that it ramps just a little bit slower and later in the RPM range but maxes out? I'll be honest, I don't fully understand how it's ramping right now. I was thinking something like this: Number of PL 6 Timing Limit 15 Timing Scaling 73 Low PSI Timing Reduct 2 Timing Reduct Scaling 100 Cruise Timing Adv 3 Fuel Stretch 1800 TPS Pump Maximum 100 TPS Pump Minimum 20 - 10 Pump Low Boost Scale PSI 8 Boost Scaling 40 RPM Limit 3700 Power Reduction 60 Also again on the timing reduction. I wanted to get some videos on that of before and after, with and without timing reduction just to show the low end smoke. I might be crazy but I think the more timing I pull down low the more smoke I get in the mid to low range which should make sense on some fronts considering the engine doesn't have the same amount of time to com-bust the fuel in the cylinder. Just a rough thought at the moment though and I don't have any data to back up that claim yet.

I ran both of these today without surging. Only issue today was with the app itself. Temps here were in the 70s-80s. How cold is it where Tyler lives? Middle Mild Number of PL 6 6 Timing Limit 8 9 Timing Scaling 100 100 Low PSI Timing Reduct 2 0 Timing Reduct Scaling 100 100 Cruise Timing Adv 3 3 Fuel Stretch 1800 1700 TPS Pump Maximum 100 100 TPS Pump Minimum 20 25 - 10 10 Pump Low Boost Scale PSI 8 8 Boost Scaling 40 40 RPM Limit 3700 3700 Power Reduction 60 60 So I've been playing a good bit with low boost timing reduction and I've found that from what I can tell the truck likes the higher timing down low, or at least that what it seems to feel like and looks like. Still need to record it but seems to respond better when I don't use timing reduction.

Well foot in the mouth today. The app crashed on me several times on the drive to and from work and around town. I wonder if Spencer is about to make some changes to the app. @Me78569 loving V2.1 timing response seems to be spot on when hammering on the throttle. Definitely feels to have given the mid range a bit more pep.

@Me78569 what are you seeing for fuel mileage and at what stretch?
-
Quadzilla Adrenaline V2 Testing
You sure that's not the other way around? Flat timing on (2) as well as the constant TPS would make me think otherwise. Two things though, speed and tps. There are a few variables here that make it a little hard for comparison.

Are you sure you even have a thermostat lol?

Few things, What's up with your fuel pressure? Do you know if your oil pressure sensor is working correctly? I would wait until your truck has completely warmed up prior to taking any data. The truck does some weird stuff when it's cold. Generally I find that for taking data it's best when the truck is above 180. Just seems to be more consistent across the board. The only correlation I can find is that this might be due to the engine load dropping by more than a few percent while also combined with your TPS dropping. You can't really notice this in the first little blip, but then again you're TPS and engine load seems to be pretty stable in this area. On the second and more noticeable 3rd drop you'll notice that the engine load and TPS in this area are moving together. I'm sure @Me78569 could go into further detail but I see similar patterns in my daily driving so it's not something that I think to be too far out of the morm. Also, considering that these little blips were anywhere from 2-3 seconds in length you shouldn't be sacrificing too much when it comes to gas mileage. On another note, I have yet to get a solid fill up on just daily driving. What I can say is that I was way above anything I expected on this last fill up which was a mix of highway driving with the 5th wheel, in town driving, and highway unloaded. Averaged right at 14.1. Not great, but considering that half that time was with the rv which I usually average around 9-10 depending on wind and elevation, I'm ok with that.

I agree and for the sake of functionality I don't think it would serve any viable purpose. Aesthetics... maybe, but not worth it in my opinion.

Completely agree with the above statement on the severity of the issue. Doesn't seem to be an issue at all when it comes to how the tune is actually making the truck perform like it use to be. So this now makes me super curious on how the edge was reading boost which I always assumed would be from the map sensor.... Overall it's not something I'm too concerned about and when the IATs come up to around ~80-90 the issue seems to be non-existent. @Mopar1973Man have you noticed the same or does yours bounce around all the time in the colder weather regardless? I'm sure your IATs are a bit lower than mine.

@xxTJRocksxx I'll shoot you a message soon for some thoughts on a potential master macro/data pull. I think that between your graphs and my charts that we can make some fairly intuitive decisions based on the data. Awesome numbers on the mileage, do you have any idea where the truck was at previously? @Me78569 I know we talked briefly on the boost recently but just wanted to see if you had any more thoughts on the subject. I think the common correlation seems to be that the colder weather is effecting the boost reading from the ECM? I'm sure you're just about done trying to wrestle with this one. @Quadzilla Power So interesting note on the module itself, it will run directly off of the no. 9 fuse alone. I was flashing the module the other night and discovered this on accident.... Not sure if this is normal but just thought you would find that interesting. Is there a time-frame for all of these changes or is it just as it comes?

Let me do a little logging for you on the OEM timing. I'm seeing similar results but I believe my timing is almost a degree higher.

I don't think anyone would. I was looking at that third gen setup in the dash a while back and the only way that I could justify that is if I have a data plan for the Ipad and could use it like I use my phone with the radio. That is one thing I wish we had more options with. And I know that there are those out there who have modified their dash to accept the double din units, but I don't think I would ever even consider it being that I've had my dash out and I know just how fragile the entire thing is so more cutting is not something that would help that.

Yes but I'm confident at this point that it's not the harness that's the issue. I might try to run it to the battery and see if that changes anything, but honestly this has been happening prior to modifying the harness and it was connected to the battery. I just thought it was normal. Might be the fact that I'm using an ipad but who knows. I'll give Spencer a call tomorrow and see if he knows anything.

- In cab it's number 9 (ignition I believe) and under the hood for the 12v is whatever the edge use to be plugged into, can't remember though and will have to go take a look. Yes. Time doesn't seem to make a difference. Not quite sure but I took a multi-meter to it a few time both on and off and it's always hot.
-
Quadzilla Adrenaline V2 Testing
So yes, but it's still getting 12v when the truck is off.

Correct.

Is anyone else having trouble with the quad picking up the last known setting after the truck has been turned off? Anyone else on an idevice?

Good lord this is an aggressive curve. How quickly does the power come in and do you haven any issues with smoke below 10 PSI?
-
Quadzilla Adrenaline V2 Testing
Nick, you mentioned earlier that the minimum timing was somewhere around 8 degrees. I have yet to record anything lower than high 10s. Do you know if there's a difference based on what pump you're running/year of truck/etc?

Quadzilla Adrenaline V2 Testing
Haha, I figured a way around it a while back by just selecting another tune.
