  1. Haven't tried to price a stock one......I just assumed I would eventually see it crack again.
  2. I have my fuel line tapped right above the stock fuel filter. Is this where the needle valve would go?Also, if this acts as a shut off valve, this would be a benefit when changing the fuel filter because you would not have to purge the line from fuel filter to isolator of air. Just simply shut it off before changing filter. Correct?
  3. My exhaust manifold has a small crack....doubt there is any way to repair this besides replacement.Anyone have suggetions on what aftermarket manifold to buy? not sure what mods I will end up doing to this truck down the road....nothing to extreme though. Just want somthing that will help it breathe better, won't crack and won't brake the bank
  4. Is it pretty common for these trucks to not come equipped with overdrive?
  5. you run that 15w 40 in the winter months too?Just bought some valvoline 15w40 ....but wondering if thats too heavy.....already gettin down to low 20's at night here.
  6. getting ready for my first oil change in this thing.....thinkin bout amsoil synthetic....I think amsoil has a few different ones to choose from.....who knows I may just go with the conventional valvoline 15 40...think its worth it to go synthetic?
  7. I can get on 5 and 6 no prob with an open end angle wrench.....its a 3/4 snap on.....someone told me it has a different angle then a craftsman....not sure if thats true though
  8. yeah....well didnt have time to make one then...needed it for the job and the tool truck was right there.I had thought of it before though....this thing has a pretty thick wall...not sure if the home made version would flex too muchits not really needed for the lines at the head....but down at the pump is nice
  9. what do uguys recommend for fuel additives?I see some of you use 2 cycle for its lubricating value but what about for the cold winter months to prevent gelling......all of them pretty much the same?I think they use a product called 911 at my work.Oh....and what do u think of stanadyne additives?
  10. https://www.matcotools.com/Catalog/toolcatalog.jsp?cattype=T&cat=2499&page=1首 I used to install the vp44 about once a week at a shop i worked at in 2004. I always used a 3/4 snap on angle wrench and a 19 mm stubby. but what was really nice when u needed a good bite was this window socket from matco tools.....back then it was 45$....now its 55$...but a good tool to have....check it out:thumbup2: part#mst9910
  11. I have checked ujoints....I do know I have a ground issue at the fuse panel and I will fix that. I don't know how to adjust the bands when changing the tranny fluid though. Also where is the apps sensor? Oh...and the truck was checked at autozone recently for codes when my lift pump was out. There were no codes. Also, since I have noticed a consistant problem after shifting into drive from neutral.....could that have anything to do with the apps? --- Update to the previous post... I started thinkin it could be the vp44 but why would I see the shuddering only at a certain time?....I don't know its kinda funny....last week it was when I got on it hard and it would do it when it was shifting from 2nd to 3rd....Now it won't do that. Shudders like crazy off the starting line though...especially if u just had it in neutral. I would rather it be the vp than the trans.....at least I know how to swap the vp!
  12. well ,I have thought about that. Especially since the truck was driven for who know how long with a lift pump that wasn't workin. However, If it was the vp44 why would it have shuddered from me putting it in neutral and then putting it in drive?Switching from neutral then to drive and barely hitting the fuel it will shudder. If I drive normal....dont hit it hard and just drive it....it acts and shifts just fine.
  13. ok....check this out. I got the truck out and drove it this weekend. Yesterday I couldnt get it to shudder again at all....was kinda hittin it hard.Today i drove it and when rolling around 10 mph....I hit it a kinda ahard and it did it. Not everytime though. Plus if I start from a dead stop and hit it hard(not punch it) and go thru all the gears it won't do it.I pulled up to a light, put it neutral, put it back in drive and barely hit the fuel and it shuddered hard. The next light I did this again and same thing.....go thru the gears and hit the next stop sign and take off....and all is well again.I looked at the fluid....it is a hair overfilled and I wouldn't say burnt but not the bright pink any more either. Also....when I hooked up my raptor pump 2 weeks ago I discovered I didnt have a good ground in the fuse panel under the hood. I moved the power and ground to my battery for the fuel pump but havent cleaned up the ground in the fuse box.I'm thinkin I'm gonna change the tranny fluid and clean this ground and see if either one of these will help:pray:....What do you think?
  14. Man really love this truck but I had no idea I would be putting so much in it right away:spend:. Where do you think I should start for a T.C. and V.b.? What to buy and from what company?I guess this is whats goin on....
  15. I get some crazy wheel hop from a dead stop if I hit it hard...bucks crazy.....then a shutter or vibration when shifting 2nd to 3rd when accelerating hard....not just in a turn either....almost feels the same as the hop, just lighter. You can feel and hear it thru the dash.....never from first to second.....just second to third......probably torque converter and not more wheel hop huh?
  16. yeah ....I must have not been making good contact in the plug with my test light the first time.....and the second time it should have been obvious what was goin on.....I'm gettin rusty I guess...been 3 and a half years since turnin a wrench for a living. Thanks again.
  17. thanks....for the help everyone....it was a ground issue...I had the power and ground mounted to the posts in the fuse box under the hood.....checked the ground there and didnt check good....I'll have to clean both of those later. Anyway....hooked up to the battery instead and works just fine!....Purged the lines and she runs like a top...still gotta hook up my fuel press gauge though.
  18. ok....I havent tried a voltmeter yet but using a testlight I have only checked the two wires going into the new lift pump......both show hot with ignition "on".When I "bump"the ignition one of them will lose power momentarily.....Does this sound right?...
  19. Just got this truck 3 weeks ago.....lift pump wasn't working....I never checked to see if it was getting power or anything.I just bought a new raptor and spent the last 2 days putting it in......changed the fuel filter and bumped the starter to try and prime the filter and I dont hear a thing. It looks like the new pump aint working neither....I swapped relays with the fog lamps and still nothin.....not sure what to do.....What fuse would this be on?:banghead: 99, 24v,automatic --- Update to the previous post... I am absolutely terrible at trying to figure out wiring issues.
  20. getting ready to update fuel lift pump .....probly a raptor..was going to put in a fuel press gauge and noticed the elec I was looking at is bout 30 dollars more.....any thoughts on which one to go with and why...was looking at isspro....I imagine the electric is a little less of a pain to install...is it as accurate?...
  21. You dont have 4:10 ratio do you?...I got a 315x75x16...the door says I should have 245x75x16....I'm sure I would be better off mileage wise to put this back closer to stock even with the 4:10. You think it would have that much of an impact with that rear end? I'm anxious to see the mileage difference when I swap lift pumps...I'm betting my lift pump not working wasn't helping the mpg much. --- Update to the previous post... I wouldn't have thought those would be a 20lb difference
  22. I just jacked up the truck and checked the ratio.....4:10 ratio....I guess I really cant ever get good mpg out of this thing....its a good thing I only drive 5 miles to work!....Its got 315 tires on it and the shaft turned just over 4 x's after one tire rev.
  23. yeah....looked at work.....I guess I need an adaptor for cummins insight. The plugs at work wont fit my truck.....I checked out the instructions online for the raptor 100....looks pretty easy....worst part looks like trying to get the line on the fuel tank....I'll probly order it some time this week.
  24. Just got back from autozone.....their reader said NO CODES....Not sure what my next step is at this point.....I might try and hook up to cummins insight at work but not sure if I can....I know the stock lift pump don't work. Im going to install a raptor 100....I don't know if my vp44 is bad though...I guess I'll see how it acts afterwards.....
  25. Im going to today....I'll let ya know...I guess I'm gonna try autozone. If they cant read them I will try getting it into work and hooking up insight.
