the fuel canister lid? i didnt remove that Just read another thread that had the exact same issue. Fuel to 4 and 5 but not 1 or 3. He replaced VP and fired up

is my vp44 shot
hey all. i dont usually have any question on working on these engines, but today im a little puzzled. i changed the stock lift pump on my 2001 with a raptor 100. i had this lift pump on my other 2001, but i just got that one an air dog 150. anyhow, ive changed lift pumps/filters on these trucks 20+ times and have done the bleeding procedure as anyone would. crack lines 1,3,4 bump a couple times till you get some fuel, crank until air is gone and fuel is clear, close lines, start. today after i got done finishing my lift pump install i did just as i stated and i was getting some fuel/air from all three. line 4 started to get good fuel and it was acting like it wanted to start. all the sudden lines 2 and 3 went from fuel/air bubbles to nothing. i cracked the vp44 line and was getting good fuel there. i then started to crank again and again with fuel only coming out of line 4 and not 1 or 3. i then opened line 5 and got good fuel from 4 and 5 still but none from 1 and 3. it isnt even trying to act like it wants to start. no engine codes. im guessing vp is toast. whats your thoughts.

The next thing I would do is put your tps pump max at 90+ having it at 60% means your basically wot and getting full fuel at 60% throttle

Forgot to ask @Me78569 I'm going to be doing a wot at lvl3. Should I be spraying water or no. Any time I'm getting on it I plan on spraying but not sure if you wanted to see without it

no i havent even gone under and taken a look yet. waiting for my pump to come and just ordered the sump a minute ago.

im not worried at all about something hitting it, but the one im looking at is a one bolt design. i would never use a multi bolt design

if your fp were to drop to zero, even for several seconds on a wot pull could definitely kill the vp is there a reason for this? have you or people you know compared others? or are you just repeating what other people say like so many other things out there. like i said, i could be wrong but a sump doesnt have any electronic components or moving parts for that matter to really "fail" its basically just a transfer tube correct?

Well we don't all have that luxury of a mechanical pump ? When I get my airdog installed this coming week I hopefully won't have to worry so much. My raptor 100 liked to drop from 19psi at idle, 16 at cruise to 5 at wot. Hence why I always kept an eye on it On that same note. I know allot of people recommend beans sump, but I've also read before that many people have had good luck with the cheap 50$ eBay ones. I'm looking at one right now that comes with everything you need and obviously looks just like a beans sump. Isn't a sump basically just a transfer tube from your tank to inlet of lift pump? I don't see how one can be that much better than another when there aren't any electronics or moving parts to it

You guys got balls of steel if you don't glance at your fp at least

what im not understanding is how these real high hp trucks keep egts in check. obviously they have much larger chargers but like i said, even with my tst powermax 3 and smarty at WOT i barely had a slight haze. so to me that means i have enough air coming in to match my fuel, but my egts skyrocket

i agree it would be a huge improvment. im not sure why they wouldnt make that standard. doing a wide open pull im trying to look at boost, fuel pressure, egts, rpm, speed, and the road all at once

does yours beep at you or anything? cause mine just turns on a little yellow light and im not gonna notice that when im trying to look at multiple gauges and the road. i have a bad habbit of staying in the throttle a little longer then i should if a race is close. id rather blow my motor than lose to a mustang. i need something that starts beeping loudly when i get above a certain degree.

very true. idk if that video is working for you guys but i started pulling away pretty good on him and then it defueled and he caught up and stayed side by side with me. why does it pull so much? you would think maybe 25%

will do. when on level 3 it fuels nice and smooth and maxes egt around 1100-1200. truck is going to be down for a bit while i wait for my airdog to come in and get it installed. im just worried its not going to have near the power with little to no wiretap. between level 3 and lvl 6 is a huge difference. feels like i put on a 100 shot of nitrous

50-55 is the most you want to push it. so should i set defuel to that psi or just turn down wiretap as much as possible and i a working on getting a biggger turbo but honestly at wot at speed it doesnt smoke more then the slightest haze. and thats before it defuels. so im not sure the issue. i get hot pretty quick. and im also spraying 100% water

the data on that wot pull in the video. should be right towards the end. there were 3 pulls back to back to back and then i drove a few minutes home no i dont have a boost defuel on. only defuelling i have is set at 1350*. quad says i max at 60-63 psi and my mechanical gauge says about the same. the turbo is wastegated to 45psi from factory but i have my adjustable line ziptied shut

is anyone able to do anything with that link i provided of my data log? would be very much appreciated

i leave it on lvl 3 unless i need some power then i turn it to lvl 6. and the "taking offf" didnt happen when on level 3, so my canbus fueling is good. only in lvl 6 it did this. but like i said i was going to do i dropped my wiretap to 0psi and its smooth now. I just did 3 pulls against my buddies tuned 2005 subaru sti. i havent uploaded data before but i have it downloaded on my phone and i also sent it to my email. i would really like for you guys (and myself) to be able to see it on a graph iQuad-2018-06-09-01.54.201618434398.csv 2000000000358536.mp4

ok, so then i think im going to set my wiretap psi to 0psi. i hate the erratic feeling of taking off from a stop at say 60% throttle and its nice and smooth, then all the sudden it takes off like you go WOT my turbo hardly gets above 2-3psi in normal driving situations. cruising at 70mph is goes between 0-1psi

ill try a tune set up higher and see if it changes it, but it is only 1st gear that is acting different, all of the others shift around the same rpm/mph in relation to tps. and what is the reasoning to when on lvl 6 once i hit 3rd gear with 50-60% throttle input from the start that it just takes off by itself. im thinking about setting my wiretap start to 0psi of boost and see if that fixes it. so if i had witetap tps set to 0% and wiretap boost set to 5psi, when does wiretap actually come on. once the peddle is touched or once it hits 5psi
-
Quadzilla V2 Custom Tunes
okay i might try that. like i said, even with the slightest touch of the throttle it holds waaay to long. i have my canbus fuel starting at 94% i believe, so if 100% is stock. shouldnt it shift similar to stock?

so do those numbers look okay for cruise? i thought timing might be high, but it didnt seem to be acting weird. @Mopar1973Man even with very minimal tps (less then 5%) it still holds first gear till 2100-2200 rpm. when normally it would shift at 17-1800 it now sits there and hangs and hangs and falls on its face until you pass the 2k mark then shifts and takes off again. i also have my max rpm set to 3400 and the highest i have seen is that 3255

just went on a drive with the new tune for the first time and here are some numbers i tracked. on data log my WOT lvl 3 run was 40 psi of boost 1284 egt 3255 max rpm 4095 canbus fuel 28.54 timing some cruise numbers i took down at 60mph were: 16% throttle 18% load 21* timing 1600 rpm 750-800 canbus fuel 720* egt 70mph 21% throttle 20% load 22.5* timing 820-850 canbus fuel 1880 rpm 800* egt my notes on the trip lvl 3 runs were smooth throughout the throttle at WOT and smokey down low (as expected) lvl 6 i didnt get a wot throttle run but running 50ish percent throttle it was smooth until 3rd gear and it took off rapidly and slightly erratic. im still having the problem of holding first gear until 2100-2200 rpm even with minimal tps

Ya I totally understand. First few take offs took some getting used to, but when I went wot I knew it hasn't lost anything, but gained. I looked over at my fiance after the first pull and she said, "that felt faster than normal" Any of you guys have trouble with hitting the rev limiter? First time going from a stop to wot it took off really slow like I mentioned before but once it built some boost and took off the tires lit up and it bounced off the limiter a few times before I could let off. Read that this is just because the tires spun loose and rpm shot up too fast for the transmission to react
