"Water in fuel" warning light
Was driving home the other day and got a "Water in fuel" warning light on the dash. Now I have the "latest greatest" AirDog 165 and filters so should not have a water issue. Have been draining the fuel drain on the AirDog every couple of months and getting a few drops of water, but never more than a half of a teaspoon, so am hoping that the "water in fuel" warning light is in error. Anyone have this issue and where should I go from here? Thx, FT PS did a search for this and got millions of hits, mostly for fuel and not water in fuel...

Outside rear view mirror loose
Thanks for the update and photos. Not sure what happened to the formatting on the text but believe I understand what to do. Looks like a pretty good sized job but need to have the mirror stable! Will post back when I get time to fuss with it. Thanks, FT

Outside rear view mirror loose
Tom, I had actually thought about that but sure would perturb others who might drive the truck in the future! I may end up doing something like that... Thx, Joe

Outside rear view mirror loose
Well I tried gently pulling on the mirror and it did not budge... Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this thing apart or firm it up inside?

Help!!!! HVAC and blower controls out- Moving in a week....
One other thing is that if your vents stop working (will not change positions) then make sure that your vacuum hoses in the engine compartment are good. I found two junctions bad and leaking vacuum. Replaced them and the vents and A/C/heating work fine now.

Alarm randomly goes off when unlocking.
Have been told that its a fault in the steering wheel and only occurs when the wheel is in a certain position. My horn honks 3 times then stops. Am used to it... but still do not like it!

Outside rear view mirror loose
I tried gently pulling on it and it did not come right off, so thought that a post here might be safer!

Outside rear view mirror loose
Am having a world of problems with the left hand outside rear view mirror. I shut the door and it moves and changes positions... then drive and hit a bump and yes, it changes positions again. Am getting tired of having to open the window every few minutes and reposition it so I can see. Evidently the guts inside are getting loose (just shy of 150,000 miles) and its not holding position. Anyone ever taken these apart and tightened them? This is the "towing mirror" version that lies flat or horizontal most of the time but can be rotated up 90 degrees for towing. Thx, Joe

Tach died, overhead display wacky... ideas?
If anyone is curious, drove 745 miles in 14 hours flat, with 30 minutes for lunch, 50 minutes to unload an antique airplane off of the trailer one fuel and two "load check" stops, all with no issues and not even a hiccup from the Cam Sensor. It did throw a code twice which was reset at fuel or rest stops, otherwise drove just fine!

XM Radio in the truck
The adapter plugs into the radio, then the antenna cable plugs into the adapter. Then a long wire from the adapter plugs into the XM radio and thats it, no tuning the radio, no cassette adapter, nothing... XM Radio in the truck
Just installed it this morning and will check it out on a long drive I have tomorrow. Remove the plastic cubbyhole that is below the radio, then you can look up behind the radio and see the antenna cable coming out of the back of the radio. Was very easy to get to. Will give a reception report once I return!

Tach died, overhead display wacky... ideas?
Ok, have the new Cam Sensor in my hot little hand and of course ran out of time to change it out before my 700 mile drive tomorrow. Am taking it with me but anyone who has done this before, could they please give me an idea of what tools to take "just in case" it dies out on the road? Thx, Joe

Plastic cubbyhole undneath the radio, inbetween the ashtray and glovebox removal.
Worked like a charm! Got the bezel off, found the two screws and the cubbyhole came right out. Got to the back of the radio right away and it worked fine! Thanks! Joe

JR, never knew how to get the bezel off! Now that you mention it like this, will go out and give it a try! Thanks, Joe - - - Updated - - - Mike, assume that the "wood trim bezel" just pops off? Have never taken the dash off so was not sure... Thx, Joe

Plastic cubbyhole undneath the radio, inbetween the ashtray and glovebox removal.
Am trying to get to the back of the radio to fuss with the antenna connection. Cannot see an easy way to do so...There is a cubbyhole made out of plastic right under the radio, inbetween the ashtray and glovebox.Looking at it, it appears that there is some sort of clip that holds it into the dash, directly under the radio but cannot for the life of me figure out how to release it.Anyone else ever done this? Thx,Joe

XM Radio in the truck
JR, I have used the cassette adapter before and it works but truthfully got tired of the mess of all the wiring everywhere. Thats why the "antenna adapter" looked so attractive as its hidden behind the dash. Thx, Joe

XM Radio in the truck
Already have the adapter, so will get it plugged into the antenna jack somehow. Thx!

XM Radio in the truck
Ryan, Thats the problem, my truck is a 2002 and no "input jack" on the radio so I have to use the adapter in the antenna or the "Cassette" adapter to get XM on the radio. Hate the cassette and trying to hook up the other one and cannot find the antenna lead! Thx, Joe

XM Radio in the truck
Ron, Sorry for taking forever to reply to your post. I went ahead and bought this adapter then got busy and never hooked it up. Was thinking about doing that this weekend then looked at the radio and realized that finding the antenna cable is not very easy. Any tips on how to get to the antenna cable or the back of the radio where it plugs into so I can install this adapter? Thanks, Joe

Tach died, overhead display wacky... ideas?
Thanks for the process on removing or loosening the vacuum pump. A question for the group... I had not worried about this that much as the truck is running fine. Just had an issue pop up. An old friend of mine, a 84 year old gent needs something moved about 350 miles from here. I am the only friend in the group with a truck. Is this CPS something that can stop the truck out on the road or do I need to make sure that its changed out before doing this trip? He needs it moved next Tuesday... and of course its raining the next two days here! Lastly, any suggestions where to buy one of these? The dealer or aftermarket place? Thx, Joe

Tach died, overhead display wacky... ideas?
Denn, Mine does not move around but either works fine or the tach needle drops to zero and stays there and at the same time the overhead display on any of the "fuel modes" gives the CCD error display. Klcammie, Thanks and how much trouble is it to change out? I have just done a VP-44 but not that familiar with the Cummins engine. Thx, Joe

Tach died, overhead display wacky... ideas?
Interesting... did not receive ANY notice from the board of the last three replies... Thats why I had not replied until now.Drove the truck today and ran fine one way... then coming back home the tach died again and so did the overhead display, but only in the mileage portions, not the temp and so on.Then finally had the truck throw a code. A P1696 code, which I believe means "P1696 PCM Failure EEPROM Write Denied"... I tried to erase the code while driving but it kept giving me an error message. Then tried it again after getting home and "no code found!" Truck seems to be running fine but did "hiccup" once while on the road, something that its never done before.Suggestions? Ideas? EDIT, is this an item or part that can cause the truck to die out on the road or just something that needs to be fixed when I get the time/money? I can live without the tach for a bit but if its going to cause me to die on the road somewhere then thats a different story.Thx,Joe

Tach died, overhead display wacky... ideas?
Dave,Thanks and that would make sense on the tach not working... but what in the world would connect the tach and the overhead display? Hmmm.... and just drove the truck home and it ran fine, tach worked normally and display as well with no codes.Lets see... and would a cam sensor cause the engine to die or any other issues? Thx,Joe

Tach died, overhead display wacky... ideas?
Driving to work yesterday, on the highway at 65 or so, everything is normal.Noticed that the tach needle burped... went from 2000 rpm to halfway to zero to a second then back up to normal.Another mile down the road and it got worse... tach needle went to zero and the overhead display shows "CCD" or the like. Engine runs fine, not a miss. Tach starts working a bit later and the overhead display returned to normal.Got to work and shut the truck down and restarted it and it runs fine, checked for codes and did not find any.Anyone ever have this happening and if so what in the world is it?? Thanks,FT

FASS Pressure Question
Mike, not sure if you are asking me or the OP. I have the Vulcan big line kit all the way from the tank to the VP-44 along with the drawstraw kit. Its showing a 2 psi drop from idle to WOT, so a very good system!
