  1. We ended up going with the stock sized "Made in America" Coopers, 10 ply truck tires as I do tow from time to time. The old tires were damm Chinese tires and will never run with those again! All four eventually croaked after 1/4 life... Thanks for the ideas guys!
  2. Have had this truck for going on 5 years now and it came with LT265/75R16 tires on it. Believe that these are one size larger than stock? Details on the truck below on my signature.Put some new replacement tires on a year ago (same size) and two of them lasted for six months then started having tread separation issues and were replaced under warranty but still cost me $40 in the process. Now six months later the other two are gone, bouncing all over the place on the hiway. Big O tire where I got them looked at them and its replacement time.Problem is that this brand does not have this tire or model anymore. This is the SAILUN TERRAMAX H/T and its been a nice tire otherwise. Am wondering if I should go down one size to the 245's or to another brand. Am not excited about putting two new tires of a different size on the one axle. I rarely tow and this truck is pretty much my daily driver and long distance hiway vehicle. Suggestions or ideas? Thx, FT
  3. Ryan,Its built up pretty well but there are still some good truck places over here, most of them near the Deer Valley Airport.Just made it back home, did 850 miles in two days (not to mention loading a 20 foot Penske truck helping a friend move) and made it back home just 30 minutes ago. No issues with the truck at all! Thanks for the help everyone!FT
  4. Just wanted to let you guys know that I reset the connector to the unit and deleted the code then let the truck sit overnight. Next morning it started fine and no error light or code! Been driving it for a day now and just like normal. Thanks for the assistance!FT
  5. Thanks much! Will give it a try tomorrow! FT
  6. Ryan, No time for that, We head out on Sunday morning with 430 miles ahead of us... Thanks though! - - - Updated - - - JR, How do you do an APPS reset? Am wondering if just pulling the plug off of the sensor and resetting it might be the issue? Thats all I did to this unit, unplug it to get it out of the way. Thx, FT
  7. Just did a bunch of work on the truck getting ready for a drive.First thing put a "stealth" plate on the VP44. Its finished but the wire is not hooked to the Edge yet. Then did the final stages of the "big fuel line" mod to the truck. Ran the large line from the fuel filter housing to the VP44. Now when I put everything back together its throwing a "PO122" code. Drives fine, fuel pressure, throttle and so on is fine. Have tried to erase the code several times using the ScanGauge but guess its popping back up again.I am running out of time and need to take a 900 mile trip this weekend. As the truck is running fine, any reason why I cannot just drive it with the yellow engine light and the PO122 code showing? Thx,FT
  8. My defective -100 worked great the next day after it had cooled down. I did a quick check into the pump after pulling it off (am an aircraft mechanic, so see a lot of pumps!) and it looked just fine. No debris, turned over great but I had lost faith in it and had a new warranty pump coming, so it got sent back to Jeff City and the factory. FT
  9. How many miles were on them?
  10. A question for you guys who have changed injectors. Am about to put 275's in my truck and the shop that is helping me says that we should also replace the transfer tubes to the injectors at the same time.Did you guys do this when you installed new injectors?Thx,FT
  11. Send my Edge W/Attitude back to the factory for some updating and they insisted that I send the harness in with it. When it was returned they had put a new harness on it free of charge. Very happy with their service!FT

  13. Well, after spending the time to go through the first 10 (of 81) pages on this thread, not sure how it helps me. First off guess I am having good success with the 6 speed but then I rarely tow and even then its just a small trailer and not the 25,000 pound loads that these guys are talking about. Lots of good info there if someone wants to go to another gearbox...
  14. The $3000 price I quoted above is for a new Gear Vendors unit, not a used GV overdrive AND a 5 speed transmission.
  15. Good points both of you guys! Totally agree that it sure would be nice to have 1-2 more gears in the truck!Lets see what happens on this, may make him an offer!
  16. I had an "old school" version of the Raptor 100 and loved it... well 18 months later it went ____ up and stopped working. Let it cool down and it worked fine but I had lost faith in it. Called the current company and the rep was worthless at ____ on a boar hog, telling me that I did not have any warranty at all, so called Missouri to the original factory and they said "you are an older customer" so we will support you. They sent me a new pump on warranty and its running fine but this thread sure does not make me want to take any long trips in the truck now... FT
  17. I have someone on the internet wanting to sell me a complete NV 5 speed gearbox out of a 1999 3500.I do not need (at this time) an extra gearbox but what he does have is a Gear Vendors overdrive attached to the rear end of the gearbox. Have been looking at a GV overdrive for a while now and simply cannot afford the $3000 price. EDIT This $3000 is for a new GV overdrive unit, not the used transmission!Any comments on if it would be worth looking at a 5 speed tranny even if it did have the GV overdrive with it? Personally I like the 6 speed box but would really love another high gear to lower my RPM's on the highway. If I did this could either swap the 6 for the 5 speed with OD, or possibly put the OD on the 6 speed gearbox. Either way could sell the extra transmission and recoup some of my money. Thx,FT
  18. You do not always get a warning. If the electronics unit on top of the VP goes ____ up then there is no warning what so ever and the engine just stops. More and more its sounding like the electronics are effected by a "heat cycle" in that if you do a lot of stop and go stuff around town, that the VP electronics do not last as long as longer driving. When I changed my VP this summer went with a pump that had a new electronics board installed, hoping to "Start the clock over" by doing so.
  19. Mike,Excellent, just what I was looking at. Thx,FT
  20. Russ,Correct, was thinking of putting something like a 17 micron filter upstream of the pump and downstream of the fuel tank. It's job would be to catch the water and big chunks, then the stock filter on the engine catch the smaller bits. The Goldenrod is nice that its got a clear body and that way you can see any water/debris. Some models also have a drain like an air compressor tank to get the water out...
  21. I have the Raptor-100 lift pump and running it to the stock fuel filter on my truck using a big line kit from Vulcan.Had to change out the Raptor a month ago and when doing so found some debris in the big screen in the pump. Not much but I work with airplanes and do not want to see ANYTHING but fuel there. Friend of mine with a F-350 Ford is recommending a "Goldenrod" style filter to me, says that the Ford community uses them on their diesels with the "water-block" filters and has very good success.Anyone else doing this? I would put the filter between the tank and before the Raptor to protect the lift pump and still keep the stock filter in place. Thanks,FT
  22. Mike is spot on. You need to know what the fuel pressure is. Get a gauge on it, clean up the codes and see what its doing now.
  23. Using a Raptor 100 with a Big Line kit from Vulcan here and good luck with it. Did have one die on me but Raptor was very good and sent me a new one out that week. No noise at all, I hear it spin up when I turn the key on when it pressurizes the system, and thats it.
  24. How often are you guys changing the fluid in your tranny's? I have the 6 speed and have no idea how old the fluid is in the box, so prolly is time.Thx,FT
  25. I try to keep mine 1-2 psi, if not zero. The more boost, the more fuel that the puppy feeds to the engine, so mileage suffers.Toss all of that out the window if you are towing or its not absolutely flat...FT
