  1. OK, I've been making phone calls this morning, checking on upgrades & warentees. DAP IN STOCK Price is listed at $1439... but that's with a $400 core charge. So net is $1039. Can ship overnight for $95 (I mentioned I am a member here & same user name as my email) Did I get a discount? Inustrial injection has NONE IN STOCK & an 85 unit back order list. Throughbred Diesel $1250 Diesel Supply Warehouse didn't answer the phone. Waiting for call back from the shop.
  2. Thanks! I didn't know that! A lot of folks may have ADs fail & need a replacement... incredibly smart to have a ready product. Lots of room Quad cab / long bed! See my thread under 911 for VP44 search results.
  3. http://fassfuelpumps.com/p-54-fass-19985-20045-cummins-titanium-series-fuel-pump-95gph.aspx LOOKS much like the Original Air Dog lift pump series. It is also a air vapor separator. So If one is replacing a failed AD, the IN, OUT, & fuel vapor return would all be used. This would make the install easier for a unfamiar shop. I see a lot of good stuff in the fass accessories. I talked to the shop... truck's not in the shop yet... fron the conversation, owner if pretty knowledgeable. That's reassuring. They've already found a mouse nest in the stock filter housing (I'd put it back for the winter.) Only vehicle I haven't screened the air filter... BHAF was already screened...
  4. Looks like FASS has an airdog replacement. titanium
  5. Not looking forward to tomorrow but either I'll need a lift pump, a VP44, or both. Oh, Joy!
  6. I'm disabled & have to send out virtually all work. I have an original maker AirDog... out of warentee because if how I bought it... mounted to the frame rail. I like the mechanical pumps but am afraid I can't send something that complicated to a shop. Wife has the truck... broken down in Vt. So I have to make choices, long distance. I'm going to have to deal with it tomorrow.
  7. I'm going to be on the phone with them in the morning... specific questions to ask. piston bores upgraded to steel new computer 2 years seem to be better than most (1 to 1.5 years)
  8. Any other vendors for vp44 with new computer that I ought to consider? Blue Chip http://www.bluechipdiesel.com/products.html All new parts including computer, 2 year warentee $2475 + shipping... DAP $1439 Free shipping All upgrades including steel sleeves & computer http://dieselautopower.com/bosch-027-vp44-fuel-injection-pump-standard-output-235hp-wire-tap-ok-1-year-warranty-vp44027tap/ Industrial Injection (direct) https://www.industrialinjection.com/shop/product/027se-vp44-injection-pump/ $1150 (unclear about upgrades) DPP http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/p-4797-stock-replacement-vp44-injection-pump-985-02-59l-cummins.aspx $1319 2 year warentee. All upgraded Diesel Supply $998 with free shipping? Claims to have all upgrades including computers... http://www.vp44pumps.com/Bosch-VP44027-SO-Fuel-Injection-Pump-FREE-SHIPPING-vp44027x.htm
  9. Repair shop is closed until Monday. I found them on FB but no web site or email so I can't send a link to Blue Chip's diognostic. DAP is closed so I can't even explore shipping options in advance. Blue Chip is within driving distance but their prices are crazy. I wonder what the prices would be from CumminsNortheast... there's one in Dedham Mass, right off I95
  10. Just looking at Blue Chip Site. http://www.bluechipdiesel.com/vp44_diagnostics.html
  11. I'm confused if the VP44 has failed with no codes? Shop ran out of time today... just getting second hand info from wife. Last word was there was fuel "under the hood". Some confusion as shop isn't familiar with aftermarket Airdog. I'm going to have to call the shop on Monday. Knowing how critical the computers are, I'd rather spend more to get a new computer... but there may be a shipping delay no matter what is done.
  12. Camping / family reunion. I'm at home, not that I could do anything anyway. (MS Sucks) has small enclosed trailer with her... and daughter & 2 grandkids. Phone call I didn't want. Quit in the middle of the road... Had it towed to a diesel shop. No codes with code reader. Turns over. lift pump is running & putting out fuel. Shop closed Sat. open again Monday. Old production Airdog. No FP guage. Spare filters under seat. ?? air leak rubber hoses? Quadzilla XZT+ set to econo 65,000 miles & 14 years on original VP44.
  13. Please consider my previous post. It used to be... maybe still is... that wipers were hot (power to them) all the time. The parking feature required the GROUND to be interupted when it reach the park position. So YES, you will read POWER on the GROUND line when you have you meter or test light to ground. The SWITCH is also on the ground side, so your tester is jumping the switch. This set up sometimes causes a corrosion problem (green verdigris) on the hot side. If contaminates like salt air condenses on the hot side.
  14. The MPG fooler is a simple resistor... the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor is a variable resistor. The "Fooler" inserts a resisor of the same value as a warmed up engine, so the engine will self adjust to that sensor reading. My home built fooler is a wiring harness extension tapped & wired to a dash switch & said resistor. a) before the engine fully warms up. b) when it's cold out & may not get full operating temperature Knowing this, the ECM & any chip or programer will do what it's set to do including the "fooled" IAT reading.
  15. It used to be that wipers were "hot" all the time & they parked by interupting the ground. I don't know if that is still the case.
  16. We've talked about this before. Diesels fire on HEAT from compression. CAIs are pretty silly given that the charge air goes though a HEATED water jacketed intake. I think it's a good point about the water entrance through the hood opening. Weather stripping makes a lot of sense to me.
  17. I just figured to levitate the truck to Idaho...
  18. My orifice is plugged... My AC orifice is plugged... I had it in, the AC guy said it was fully charged but plugged. He evacuated it & put it back several times... Had me behind the wheel to run it... It lasted a day. He wasn't equipped to replace it. I want to get it fixed but don't know how to find the best shop for this job. (I've found a couple who declined it.)
  19. Thoughts & prayers for all the First Responders who put themselves in harms way & for a successful mission.
  20. My truck sits more than I'd like... I try to keep the truck exercised every couple of weeks but it often ends up longer. I don't want to remove the fuse on the always on stuff... like the clock & such. So I use a solar battery minder from Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/15-watt-solar-battery-charger-68692.html on the dash & park so it gets some sun. Plugged into the lower cigarette lighter plug. The first one I had... lasted a long time... over 10 years. I had to repair the wire once & zip tied the wire as a strain relief. In the end, the wire failed again where it went into the board. So be careful of how you handle the unit.
