  1. Just read this article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/06/rolling-coal-photos-video_n_5561477.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular This is just crazy. I hope anyone with a diesel doesn't end up labeled an anti environmentalist.
  2. 50 hours a week at my day job and then at least another 40 into my business at home. No rest for the wicked with 5 kids to take care of. I'm on here looking around most week days.

  4. Just my opinion but if you have average to small hands and some patience you'll do ok. Google this repair. 2003 2.8l passat combi valve replacement. Been almost 2 years and I've still got scars on the backs of my hands.
  5. Probably some family friendly filters doing the blocking. I think the one I got is the VCDS lite for around $130 4 or 5 years ago.
  6. Sorry Tom. I missed that part in your post. It is amazing what you can do with VCDS.
  7. Got a 2003 Passat 2.8l 4 motion sitting in the driveway with a blown engine. Something let lose and it spit all the oil out before the warden could get it shut down. She said it started knocking very loud for a few seconds before she could shut it off. Waiting for the snow to melt to have a look at it. It has been very costly to keep the emissions related parts functioning and even though the rest of the car has been reasonable, I'll never own another VW. If you do get VW, and plan on working on it, I'd highly recommend looking into this: http://ross-tech.com/products.html for diagnostics. Very helpful and worth every penny.
  8. I hope my email didn't make you think I was upset. It takes a lot to offend me and this didn't even come close. No harm, no foul. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.
  9. I've got a 7.5 foot Snow Way plow and at full tilt the wheels are just slightly inside the path I plowed. An 8 foot plow should give you a few inches on either side.
  10. Checked the fuses again and found they were both good. Did find that there was 12 volts going through the fuse but not making good contact in the PDC connection on the way out to the headlight. Got it cleaned and tightened up and all is good now. The backfeed thing burned me on this one. Lesson learned. Thanks for the help.
  11. That makes sense. I tested the fuses with my DVM but I'll check them again. I did notice that with the headlights on when I pulled the fuse for the right headlight nothing happened to either light, but when I pulled the fuse for the left headlight they both went out.
  12. There's one of my issues. I've got red, purple, and black. The manual says to check the z3 ground circuit but isn't clear on the location of the ground points. Looking at the 2001 Ram manual on page 959, I'm guessing that the vt/wt wire is ground on low beam and the rd/or wire is ground on high.
  13. I have a full 12 volts at the passenger side plug with it unplugged from the light. Once I plug it into the light, it drops down by 4 or 5 volts at each wire. When I replaced the pigtails, I cut the harness back a few inches from the corroded connectors and didn't see any corrosion under the insulation. Fuse is fine and the relay is ok as well.
  14. There was some corrosion at the headlight plugs so I replaced the pigtails, solder and heat shrink, with no change.
  15. The headlight on the passenger side is dim on both high and low beam. Driver side is fine. Tried several new bulbs and even switched them from side to side to double check. I've cleaned every ground I can find, even looked under the dash, but nothing seems to make a difference. This is a 2 headlight system, not the quad setup. Any thoughts on this? I can't afford to lose anymore hair.
