I don't know much about the 01's; but, does the engine have the crankcase vented to atmosphere? I thought the systems were closed with a positive crankcase ventilation system. If it is a closed system, then what is the smoking tube?Try two things.1 can you put a thin layered rag secured to the vent tube and drive it under load to see if excessive oil is coming from it.2 Look post turbo but prior to the intake to see if there is an oil residue, there should be none in the intake system.

I also have been using the tow mode switch, but I usually don't put it back into tow/haul mode, I will try that next time I am pulling my 34 5th wheel.

Did you disconnect the batteries, to see what happens?

one bad battery will pull down a good battery, that is the problem I had. Do as the previous post and disconnect the batts, then read each one. --- Update to the previous post... Harbor frieght has a cheap battery load tester, or get it done free at places like Pep Boys, or Auto Zone.

Yes my grid heater cycles the voltage indicator, makes me nervous, but now I ignore it as normal operation. --- Update to the previous post... That is how you get the lights to say on while walking to the door, tell him to enjoy the feature.

I don't let the dealers change my oil, service manager said they just use bulk oil. I am sticking with Delo.

Thanks. My powerstroke (last diesel) began at 19.5 factory stock, in fifth over. After the ford dealer finished, I had only 13 lbs of boost, made mods and added a programer to get up to 17 boost.

my dad's $600 code reader won't read my 06 either, I will watch this post, it would be interesting to find out why some work and some don't.

It used to be dead on, but after I added a trans flow fuel tank it is not accurate anymore, don't know if they are really related to each other. Has anyone else had this issue?

What would be the highest boost a stock 06 auto would see when pulling a total weight of a little over 19,000 lbs.?I am completely stock as I have heard our tranny won't take much more.Sorry wrong generation opened.

I am planning on putting the TC lock on my 06. I would use it while I am towing and would unlock when shifting. By pulling down the column shifter to second gear it will lock the TC after a certain speed. But I had over heated the tranny while going up a steep hill in first, I am hoping that locking the TC in first when I am staying in first for a while up a steep hill will keep me from heating up. Also I want to lock third earlier.:)
