Returning truck to stock without programmer
Well that sucks. Either chance it and hope theres no tune, or if there is, that nothing happens. OR get charged out the ___ by a dealer to reflash. I was hoping to have my Juice hooked up right when I start the motor for the first time so I can immediately setup the Edge and begin to monitor my fuel pressure while driving. I can always hook up a test gauge to check initial start up pressure, but I won't be able to drive it. I wish the computer cleared itself while my batteries have been unhooked for the past week. --- Update to the previous post... Can I pull the ECM and bring it in to the dealer, or does the truck need to be attached?

Returning truck to stock without programmer
Just received my Edge today and the instructions say to return your trucks ECM to stock. I have no idea if the previous owner has left a program on my truck or not. The gauges he installed points towards the idea that he did have a tune on it, anyway I can know for sure? If so, whats the best way to go about this? Or is it really not a huge issue... it says potentially ECM or engine damage can result... last thing I need right now.

Couple AirDog100 questions
Yeah, it may not work I really don't know. I guess I will wait until I get my Edge and see exactly what comes in the box with it, then make a decision. I also kinda don't want to start the truck and then receive the Edge a day later, then have to go back and cut the line, get fuel everywhere again, then re bleed the system. More time to research I guess

Couple AirDog100 questions
Maybe I called it the wrong name. I'm talking about the "overflow valve" to the left of the inlet on the VP. I was considering tapping into that for my fuel pressure readings, as opposed to putting T in my new fuel lines or something like that.

Couple AirDog100 questions
I should have done that from the start, but now I'm pretty much getting to the point that I don't need the pics anyways. Plus I was pretty dirty and didn't want to mess up my keyboard. I'm all cleaned up now and heading to the gym. I'm gonna call it a night on the truck and hopefully get off work tomorrow and finish her up. --- Update to the previous post... Another question has popped into my mind suprise, suprise. But I found a 3/8 needle valve on top of our fridge tonight. I'm wondering what the disadvantage is to using this, as opposed to an 1/8"? I have been thinking about just tapping the test port on the VP for my Edge fuel pressure rather than tap into my brand new fuel line from the AirDog. Is there any reason NOT to do what I'm thinking? It seems to me like the pressure reading would be just as accurate, if not more, than tapping the fuel line. And if the needle valve is going to be almost closed anyways to prevent pressure spikes, what is the difference between doing what I'm thinking, or buying an 1/8 valve and tapping the AD main fuel line?

Couple AirDog100 questions
I suppose you could say it's going well. The weather sucks and working out in the street sucks. It's been raining on and off all day with temps in the 40's and windy. The rain gave me a day off from work though and possibly again tomorrow so I'll be grateful for that. Between the circumstances and never working on a truck like this before (or any truck for that matter) it's going pretty well. Slow, but well. So far today I removed the old fuel system and gauges from the interior, installed the new VP, and bolted up the Air Dog loosely incase I need to make any adjustments. Oh and BTW the instructions recommended bypassing the stock fuel canister, so I decided to remove the whole unit. Now the fuel will go right from the AD to the VP. Also freed up a good bit of engine space.

Couple AirDog100 questions
Haha, I actually missed that in the instructions, and just went back over it and realized it was for the low pressure light. So I will just cut the quick connect off and clamp it. And I just realized that I did nothing with the 17psi spring included in the kit, so I guess when the weather clears I'll have to go back and and put that in. I'm finding these directions a little hard to understand and the pictures are very small and not too clear. I will get it figured out though. If I don't, you guys will be hearing from me... --- Update to the previous post... Ok so apparently, the 15psi spring is preinstalled at the factory? They just include a 17psi incase you needed more pressure? I'm seeing nothing about installing the spring yourself until it gets to the end of the booklet and only mentions it as an "upgrade". Anyone know this for sure?

Couple AirDog100 questions
I'm almost done with Air Dog, but I have a couple problems. First, the main suction line from the tank to the AD, will not connect to the top of the factory sending unit. There is a 90 elbow fitting on top the tank, and the new AD line has a plastic quick fit attachment and no matter how hard I push, it will not click on. The previous owner actually had a FASS pump installed which I found out today. If I can't get it to fit, should I just cut the plastic quick connect off and stick the line on and hose clamp it? It looks like the previous owner did that with the FASS.Second question is electrical. On the wiring harness where it plugs into the AD, There is another electrical connector that does not connect to anything. Is this for an optional setup or something? I have just about everything else done, but these two parts and now it raining pretty good, so I thought I'd come in and check it out. Thanks

New to Cummins, need some possible fuel diagnostics
Thanks for the tip man. I'm doing it this week when the parts come in, so I'm trying to get as informed as possible before then so it goes smooth. I'm sure I'll be posting up again if I have some trouble, this site has been great for getting quick help with things.

- New to Cummins, need some possible fuel diagnostics
I know I'm sounding like a noob, but let me just get this straight. Are we only talking about when the tank gets low for all these issues? Or since I'm installing the AD100 to the factory sending unit, will the pressure drop more under WOT no matter how much fuel is in the tank? Not that it makes a huge difference to me personally, since I don't tow anything really and only occasionally get on it hard just to have a little fun. I'm just trying to prepare myself for what I should be seeing when the truck is running again to prevent future problems.- New to Cummins, need some possible fuel diagnostics
What you know is far greater than anything I know lol. I'm still learning everything I can right now. As far as the stock sender, it will have to do for now as long as it actually functioning like it should. It will be just my luck to have all these problems caused by that ONE part that I didn't replace... I will find out soon enough, but as of now, money has become an issue and I can't really afford to buy anything else "just to be sure". If it works like it should now, it stays, if not, I will scramble for the dough to replace it. But I've just about maxed out what I can spent in the near future.- New to Cummins, need some possible fuel diagnostics
Well maybe it did run then. I guess if only cuts on for a second or so, I could of missed it. Either way, hopefully what I'm doing starts it. If not, I'm back at square one, but with a reliable long-lasting fuel setup at least. I'll just have to keep telling myself that to feel better hah.- New to Cummins, need some possible fuel diagnostics
Haha yes the good ole injectors. I told my brother about the problems I was having and he said a guy he talked to in Delaware works on diesels and see's quite a few injector problems. I've got my fingers crossed on them for now, but I suppose I will find out their condition once the fuel actually making to them again. But I will keep those injectors in mind just in case, thanks. --- Update to the previous post... And BTW, when I said I never heard my LP, I mean NEVER. When I turned the key on and sat for the wait-to-start, I never heard the pump under me running. Only some noise under the hood and some whining from my crappy Glowshifts...- New to Cummins, need some possible fuel diagnostics
Yeah, I've always got a 5 gallon diesel can with me. To be honest, at this point, I'm sure I will be very satisfied. I've been watching videos of guys starting their diesels, and I hear the LP's running very clearly. I've owned this truck for about 3 weeks and NOT ONCE have I heard my LP run. Until the day it shut down, some kind of buzzing noise came out of it. Guess I've been driving gas motors too long and didn't know what to listen for. So I suspect my VP44 has been fueling the truck alone ever since I owned it. It will probably feel like a different truck once I get it fixed up. Not only that, but my damper was very wobbly and I've got a Fluidampr on the way for that. New waterpump, t-stat, coolant flush, engine oil/filter, fuel filter and new pumps should make this truck run like I've never known it to lol. Not to mention the Juice. I'm afraid to do the math and add up how much money I have spent on parts, fluids and tools in the past week and a half. Must be damn near $3000. I hope I don't have to touch anything for a LOONG time after this... other than basic maintaining obviously.- New to Cummins, need some possible fuel diagnostics
Will the factory screens flow 100gph? Remember I had my order switched from the AD150, down to the 100, for just that reason... it requires less installation and parts, but will still support easily any power I will make with my Edge Juice.- New to Cummins, need some possible fuel diagnostics
I see... Well I didn't order a drawstraw and when I spoke to Jason at dieselautopower, he told me that the AirDog 100 would be an easier install for me and support more power than I would ever need (based on what I told him), without needing a drawstraw. So if I can get away with just using the factory in-tank setup, I'll do that for starters. If I have issues, it shouldn't be too difficult to go back and add a drawstraw. At this point I'm just excited to get my truck up and running again. I ordered the Edge Juice last night, which is only adding to it. Just need a needle valve now, which I might just pickup from Ace Hardware or a plumbing shop...- New to Cummins, need some possible fuel diagnostics
So is the drawstraw what is causing most of the issues? People who do it themselves just don't install it low enough or something? I didn't order a drawstraw, but I also never run the tank below an 1/8, I typically wait for the gas light to come on since that means you still have a good 8-9 in the tank. But that was in my V10, I only got a chance to run this truck down to about a 1/4 before the pumps went out.- New to Cummins, need some possible fuel diagnostics
I've been looking around at installs of the AirDog 100 that I have on the way. I'm installing mine to the factory fuel sending unit on top of the tank. It is supposed to be a pretty straighforward install, no tank dropping, no drilling, but some people were saying that it was not so. It got me wondering about my install, anyone that has installed one before, could you let me know how it went, or link me to some good instructions. I don't want to have any of these "issues" when I get to a 1/4 tank that I've been reading about. Any install advice is welcome. Thanks- Pondering my next move...
Cool. Would you recommend a needle valve for the Edge or does it have some kind of resistance to spikes unlike the analog gauges?- Pondering my next move...
Ok, so I think I will plug that up then. When I get the Edge, I'm assuming that would be eliminated anyways right? I'm sure the Edge comes with better ways to hook things up than this guy...- Pondering my next move...
So here's my situation: I removed my VP44 today. The previous owner of my truck has glowshift gauges installed and the fuel pressure gauge is shot. While my truck is down, I'm tearing out any wires and connections this guy installed for the gauges. He has the top of the exhaust manifold drilled out for EGT's, which is good so hopefully I can use this for my Edge EGT tap. He had the VP tapped into with the fuel pressure sending unit which is now off completely. Here's where I'm a little confused. He has the third bolt of the injector lines hold down bracket tapped into with some kind of tube that runs to the back of the gauge pod. What is this for? Should I replace it with a 10mm bolt like the rest or plug it up somehow? Will it be useful for an Edge install? I know this might be a little confusing and I will snap some pictures tomorrow, but I need some help figuring out how to get rid of this mess. I'm installing an Edge w/ attitude soon and want to get this sorted out first. But I may decide to buy it sooner than later for monitoring of the new pumps.- Quick question on VP removal
Sixth worked like a charm. I'm about pull the pump shortly, thanks man.- Quick question on VP removal
Hey guys, I'm removing my VP ahead of time and I'm a little stuck on removing the 1-1/16 bolt on the VP gear. It's on there so tight that when I pull hard enough, it rotates the whole motor. I tried it in neutral and stuck it in 1st gear as well. Is there some simple way to get this nut off that I'm missing? It is a lefty loosey nut correct? lol I need some advice.- Cool upper rad hose?
