2001 dodge auto tranny problems

Someone help me out on this one...

 

Does the 01 fall into the same category as 02 as far as with O/D on (ie; no backlit O/D on dash) the trans will lock up in 3rd, then shift to 4th, then lockup again in 4th?

 

If so then I think it sounds fairly normal, other then the broken spring obviously. Mine will shift pretty harshly if I leave it like stated above and am sorta putting around. Even more so when cold, but it's only when shifting from locked 3rd to unlocked 4th then back to locked 4th really quickly, and this only happens when accelerating slowly through those speeds regimes. Unless I'm on it pretty good, like 1800rpm and above, the shift from locked 3rd to unlocked 4th to 4th locked will smooth out quite a bit.

 

My trans is 100% stock (......one day dynamic tuned ) and that's how mine shifts. Now, that's not to say that's normal either, but I haven't really seen it do anything to cause any concern from my end.

notlimah Mine acts pretty much the same way as you discribed.  Low throttle and it can shift harshly.  Add sme throttle and it smoothes out.
