How much to flush a 50 hp Honda outboard cooling system

My neighbor recently went dipping for reds on the lower Kenai  It is a jet. The lower river  is pretty muddy and silty . The cooling system got plugged enough to make the motor run hot and it went into limp mode.  It was always peeing but it would not come out of limp mode. When he got it home he put  the hose on it and flushed it out . Then he took it to a local shop because he was worried something else was wrong.  Typical new virus wait to get it in. Gets it back couple days late  and the bill was 1140$   $54 for masks and gloves etc and 5 hours labor I believe. No parts one very small zip tie but they didn’t charge him for that.  Never put it in the water and tested nothing.   Is there something I’m missing here.  No new impeller nothing.

Does it really cost that much to flush a 50 Honda or was he seriously taken

@Mopar1973Man, It ain't funny at all :poke:It's down right stealing. Should have been 2 hrs at most at 150 an hour. That'd be the most it should be to do that. I've sat and watched my impeller being replaced on  my Merc and took less than an hour. Another hour to flush, no big deal.

I just loved the comments or being punny of "being hosed" that caught me off guard. Sad to say this happens ever day. I just talked to a guy that had a VP44 replaced for over $3,000. Highway robbery true... I've got clients now that refuse to have any one but me work on there vehicles. Again because someone else hosed the owner in a poor repair and charged way too much.
