No boost reading on Iquad after mishap

Recommended Posts

So I did the wt ground mod on my truck, and also decided to clean up the spaghetti that was on my battery terminals for all my accessories. I wired in two battery bus terminals, and ran all my accessories to them(including the quadzilla module), and ran the power to the positive off the old alternator post on the pdc. Well, that was a mistake because my stupid self didn't crimp the terminal good enough for the wire that runs from the battery positive post to the pdc. It arced inside the connector, and shut the whole truck down. I fixed it right away, but it dumped the programming on my quadzilla. I managed to reflash it, but now it doesn't read the map sensor, and the truck acts like it's in limp mode still. CEL is on too. I pulled the codes, and it gave me a P1693 companion code, and also the usual turbo boost circuit low code. I cleared them but the CEL is still on. Idk what to do right now other than hope and pray it's some stupid fuse I popped, because I have a big trip coming up soon, and I have to pull a camper for 6 hours with this truck. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? Thanks in advance.

Pull the Quadzilla off and reset the error codes and go for a 10 to 15 mile ride and see if the code returns. If the code doesn't return send the Quadzilla in for repair on the boost fooler circuit most likely. If the code comes back without the Quadzilla then the ECM is damaged and will require to be sent out to be repaired like @Auto Computer Specialist or similar.

So I did whap Mopar1973Man said, still no dice. Truck still runs like poop. But thankfully I found a friend who is gonna help me pull my camper.

So now my question is, is it the body pcm or the engine pcm that's fried?

Just for reference, I pulled the same code for the turbo charger boost reference circuit low voltage. Not sure which computer controls that?

Simple...

PCM - Only controls the dash cluster, transmission controls (auto), cruise control.

ECM - Manages everything about the engine. MAP sensor, injection pump, etc.

Hence why I asked for the error codes again to see what is real or not. When you reset the error codes now you'll be looking at what is actively is wrong if it trips again then we can make better game plans on what needs to be looked at.

Curious to see the Error Codes.

I'll get them tonight when I get back into town

P0237 is map sensor too low.

Most likely shorted to ground, no +5V signal, bad map sensor, open sensor lead to ECM.

So not the ecm

Has new map sensor btw.

Still the other problems could exist yet wiring wise. The best to do is unplug the ECM and ohm test pin to pin for the ECM plug and MAP sensor.

Mopar1973man is correct in the Troubleshooting steps.   Just want to be sure what year is it; 2nd Gen goes from 1994 - 2002?  Sounds like a 1 Plug Issue...

Yes, should be OEM.

Getting to the point that OEM isn't guaranteed to be good

I've been working on a Volvo L110E loading shovel for a few weeks now on and off, original fault was coolant level sensor warning coming on intermittently, Lots of bubbles in the header tank and I mean lots, so did a combustion gas test and not conclusive, pulled the water pump and big time cavitation had ate slots down the sides of all vanes so water pump, thermostat, still coolant level warnings when level was ok. Changed the coolant level sensor for new OEM Volvo

Tested for combustion gas in the header tank 5 more times on separate occasions and it started to fail , did head gasket and new radiator as there was a few colder spots

Sent the machine back to work still coolant level warning but no bubbling in the header tank, at no point did this overheat ever

Volvo diagnostics says coolant sense wire back to ECM shorted to earth or sensor fault..... this was new.... disconnect the sensor no more warning so new sensor is faulty. OEM volvo

Yup I can concur... just because it's OEM Cummins does not make it quality. I just blew up two Cummins OEM head gaskets. Did my research and Cummins does not produce head gaskets but a company called BLK does. I've seen Cummins OEM thermostats fail as well and again not produced by Cummins (Holley / Mr. Gasket)

Yep its a 98.5,the bastard change over year. I'll test everything tomorrow after court. I hope it's a stupid ground wire. But I did check all the fuses, all were good. And the map sensor was fine before the sparky spark.
