Thats a good point and I will look into it as soon as I can. Would that mess with the timing like this though? Could a sensor like the IAT or MAP be mis reading or something? I just dont know if the jumpy timing is something I should be worried about is all. Its not normal so I am kinda freaking out a bit.

For the sake of updating, I did the key trick and got these codes...

-P1689

-P0382

-P0380

-P0215

-P0122

I dont know if this helps, but I will clear them and see what comes back. I know two of those are VP related and it makes me worried but I dont think they indicate a failure in the pump. What about the rest?

Sorry I did not realize this was on an 01 model. My PCM is attached to outside of my fuse box which I had to replace (fuse box) due to electrical issues with my AC unit. Yes that is correct, it does not deal with Engine Components so why would they mess with it knowing the ECM controls the engine components’ that he was having issues with? PCM is usually reprogrammed if it was coming from a different VIN that may not have all the electrical accessories’ and components’ from the previous truck. Now if the Edge did interface with the PCM then I could see it causing an issue but others with more experience with that could elaborate on that further. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thx

I dont know of any tuner/programmer that does anything with the PCM unless it has trans tunes. Later on the that dealership tried explaining to me that the ECM and PCM are one unit on these trucks. They also very specifically told me that I have no idea what I am talking about when I tried to tell them they are different units. They were "surprised I even knew how to drive a cummins" with "how much I knew about it". Worst experience with a stealership EVER.

That is as bad as a dealership that told me "The reason your tie rods are worn out at 36k miles is because this is not a highway car. It is an in town car". I also overheard the service adviser tell another couple "Your engine has nylon impregnated pistons. It is designed to use oil". Honest that is what was said.

...you know, I was at my local NAPA buying parts one time, she noticed I had a diesel truck. So she asks me, "Do you want to buy some exhaust fluid? Its on sale right now, for a really great price!"

I retort, "What? Yea, lady and I think I need a bottle of blinker fluid, too!"

She says, "No, really, look!"

...and thats when I found out that there REALLY was exhaust fluid! Who woulda thunk!

..it seemed pretty darn funny to me at the time! So I had to have her explain to me how it worked. Wow...

Well I had another bad experience with the dealership. Went down to get the fast idle software flashed and they couldnt do it. I even printed out the tsb paperwork that is in the articles section for them!!! Their excuse was manual transmission trucks can not be flashed with this software because their tool wont do it. I am just going to rent the smarty and do it myself :banghead: :spank:

Last time I will ever be going to the dealer!!!!

This was a different dealership than the last one by the way...
