3rd gen steering upgrade

If you didn't take the pitman arm off don't take it off to adjust. Loosening up 2 bolts on sleeve closest to pitman arm, get a pair of channel locks or pipe wrench and turn sleeve till steering wheel is in center, tighten up and drive, repeat if necessary. As said earlier it will be easier if the steering wheel is not locked. You could also adjust toe in with a tape measure 1/8-1/4 inch of toe in will get you to alignment shop. Good luck

Yeah I pretty much did this last night - got the steering wheel straight but the pitman arm was off slightly. Now I lost 1/4 of my turnign cirlc to teh left - which I found out in a not so nice time. So I think I needed to go teh other way - but that when fully adjusted was only 90% straigh on teh steering wheel - so ... hmmm Will see how the steering alignment goes ...... firestone do a $150 for LIFE alignemnt deal ..... not my favourite place to have these things done - but at least I can take it back as many times as required and to multiple shops if Im not near my normal one.

If it's really being that big of a pain you can always pull into the garage straight and ignore the wheel position. Then take the TRE out of the pitman arm. Turn the wheel full left and full right, and then center it. Now adjust the sleeve to drop the TRE into the pitman arm, then you can fine tune it by driving.
