Bought this truck used to pull a 5th wheel travel trailer. When I first drove it (w/73K miles on it) I was so impressed with its power I thought it might actually leap into the air ! I have had some dead pedal over the last few years and now, w/150K on it, I need a new VP44. Rats! I will be able to save some money by doing the work myself. I retired as an ASE Master Tech from the Dodge dealer I bought this from. I am wondering if I should canvas all the listed shops w/815 test rigs, or just get a pump from someone like Thorobread Diesel in KY ?? Also, somewhere along the line a dealer upgraded (?) my lift pump by installing a pump in the tank. I would very muc…

Hey all, hope everyone is having a great Monday. I am a Mopar man to the core, I have had a few Cuda's, a Charger and some other fun stuff. Recently built an 83 crew with a 12V in it, turned out beautiful. Sold that and now I have an 06 F350 King Ranch 4x4 with an 01 24V. 10K trouble free miles on the swap and just had my first problems. This site is great, I look forward to getting info when I can and contributing knowledge when I have it. Take care everyone!

Hello all. New member from Georgia. Have owned 3 Cummins trucks over the last 12 years. Currently own a 2007.5 3500 SRW CCSB with Southbend clutch, Smarty S67. Just bought a 99 3500 DRW Auto truck with 250 K miles. Trying to get to know this truck so I can use it to tow my tractor to and from my property/hobby farm. Really glad to have found this community as it seems to be active and have learned quite a lot about 2nd gen platform. Hope I can contribute to the knowledge as well. Ben

Hey Guys! Would like to introduce myself to you (just left a post on the 2nd gen steering upgrade thread in search of an answer). Im Patrick, living in germany and of 30yrs. Bought me a 2001 RAM sport last year, had my dream come true with that - not that usual on german streets. So far i love it, even if it is a little money/time-pit as most of 2nd gen owners will know. Still trying to fix all the stuff the prev. owner did ignore long enough and make it a bit more sexy.

Happy 4th of July! I'm Kevin from Caldwell Idaho. Been reading lots of great info on this forum since I purchased a 2000 Dodge Cummins from my Dad about 6 months ago. It seems a lot of you guys know these trucks inside and out! Mopar1973man thanks for taking the time to make this place happen. We might cross paths up on US95, I spend a lot of my free time in the Council-Cuprum area. I have a few plans for the truck: 1) better torque converter control ( I have questions! Will start a new post soon) 2) steering-replace worn components. It's a bit of a handful to keep it between the lines! 3) pop-up camper. Four Wheel Camper bran…

Hello all! Sorry I have been radio silent for a while. I ended up selling the old 24v cummins after sticking a remaned motor in it a couple years back. I have since went to the dark side and am rocking a powerstroke these days. Don't hate me for it! I miss the Cummins everyday but I love the ford truck for everything else. A diesel is a diesel at the end of the day and I miss the environment here where everyone just wants to help. Ill get my info changed and try to check in once in a while!

Hi all, been digging through articles here for a while now, figured I'd better make an account. I've got a 2002 2500 that I purchased from my dad back in October. He was the original owner, and this was the first truck I drove around when I got my license. Just the ST model, my dad likes simple. So far I've replaced the steering linkage with the 2010 upgrade, new track bar, new Bilsteins, new power tow mirrors, Quadzilla and a 4th gen center console. Also added a topper and built a sleeping platform in the back, my wife and I do a lot of fishing/camping trips. Would like to say thanks for all the help this forum has already provided. …

I purchased a TST Tuner from this guy in La. keep it for a few months to try and pay off my pay pal account. Was going to get that plate that is mounted on top of the VP-44 with a stud that screwed into the power wire. Well my wife got with our Daughterinlaw and the next thing I know there is a guy at the house really wanting to buy my truck. Anyway, he drove it home, I was very upset to say the least. She sold it for less then $5,000. So now l have this tuner for sale, I will sell it for what I payed for it. Remember it will only fit a 1999.5. It comes with instructions, wire harness and it is NOT VIN specified. It will work on any 1999.5 dodge 24V 5.9L Cum…

Joined beginning of September and have been checking out your site. Lots of good info on here. I recently got my first 24 valve, a 01 2500 qcsb 4wd. I was referred here to research the Quadzilla. Found that info and much more. I'm on a very tight budget and everything I do has to be low dollar for now. I just got finished with power lock and window upgrade using parts from my parted out 95 (the 01 is a base model ex fleet truck from my work). It's going to be an ongoing project for awhile.

Hello all. New to the site and thankful for finding a bunch of likeminded people. This is my 5th Cummins it’s a 2002 6spd 2500 longbox 4wd. About to turn over 500,000 kms (Canada). Love it and it does everything I need it to but recently I’ve been noticing what feels like an awful lot of axle wrap while towing. I got to tearing into it yesterday and found a couple loose u bolts but worse is that the factory lift blocks under the leaf packs seem to be walking off the axle perch. It it must have been happening for a bit because both the block and the perch are misformed now. My question is do I buy a new lift block and hope for the best or eliminate…

hey everyone, new to the cummins forum thing. I've used multiple diesel forums as search tools but never joined one. I have owned my first and only diesel for three years now. it's a 2001 24v with 47re and 4x4. i'm located around the Indianapolis area. it's been a constant struggle of fixing/replacing things as they go out and it seems all plastic or rubber parts are wearing out and i'm fixing one leak after another. the truck just tipped over 250,000 miles a couple days ago. it's had all new braking system put in from the master cylinder to lines and calipers. new tires, batteries, sump pump on fuel tank, tappet gasket, front wheel hub assemblies, drag link/tie rod. the …

Hi Guys, I have a 2001 24v auto. It randomly will not start. Give it a few minutes or a day and it is good to go. It has a FASS lift pump (factory style) mounted to the block. I have bypassed the computer and installed a relay to the lift pump. It is a fuel issue. Could the injection pump be having a problem or voltage from the ecm to the injection pump? I am not sure where to go from here. Thank you

Popped the trans in my 97 1500 a couple of years ago. Told my tranny man that I have known since high school to help keep an eye open for the right one. Now when it comes to diagnostics and repair I can honestly say I know my vehicles but when it comes to the trans I have less knowledge of a Nat. Well back in March where the guy (seller) had all the right information I was looking for when it came to the trans history. The fluid was red but could tell it was not New like others I have looked at. Just one of the first things I look at with engines I figure the same attitude on trans missions. Told my tranny man to give it a good look over and tune not to mention an oi…

I would like to introduce myself to all of you. I met Michael last July in Meridian, Idaho at a medical facility. He had a follow up appointment for his urostomy/ileostomy, while I was getting wound care treatment for my ankle. We briefly met at this place once before but had not been able to chat. On this particular July day, we had a few minutes to chat. As I learned more about Michael's life, I realized that he is an amazingly unique person with a kind heart and good old fashioned values. Upon listening to how he sacrificed on behalf of his mother's need for dialysis in the midst of dealing with his bladder cancer, I began to highly respect and admire this …
