When I pull out of the garage in the morning, I can see coolant on the garage floor ( pass. side front of truck).Crawled underneath yesterday to see if I could see where it is coming from. No luck there, although the drops are coming off the front corner of the block on the pass. side. In looking from the top, I see evidence of coolant around the water pump housing, but it is dry, with a shiny glaze over it. So I'm thinking loose bolts on the pump. Not so, says the wrench on the bolts. Basing this statement on the hoops I had to jump through yesterday to get to the bottom bolt. The water pump is going to be a SOB to change, unless I'm missing something obvious. I know th…

  4. Was wondering what issues I might have doing the swap? I realize that the newer turbo is a larger and more efficient. How should I go about dealing with the electronic wastegate, downpipe etc....

  5. This thing has over 300 k on it and still running good with stock everything. I am thinking of removing the cat converter for better flow. I am a little worried about noise and or other problems - has anyone had experience with this?I bought this truck with alot of miles on it - I had previously had one just like which seemed to have more power and be less congested... my imagination? I am thinking those kind of miles are going to amount to accumulation of stuff plugging up the cat- Your input please........

So I finally got my gauges pyro, boost and trans, fuel will have to come later. Egt's are higher than my 01. I can set and idle after coming off the hwy seems like a long time before the temp will come down to 250. Running empty at 60mph with some rolling hill she runs 675, have not got her on flat hwy yet. But my fuel mileage is in the can again 13.75 and I thought I was taking it easy on it. I didnt fuel up at my usual place this time, I hope that's it. I am also running Amsoil concentrate, I got a case of the stuff might as well burn it.This is a auto trans so I might suffer a little on mileage due to that I guess. I got a double deep trans pan I need to get put on. Co…

Hey fellas. I currently have an 02 but have a chance to upgrade to an 08 with about 30 K on it . I haven't really payed to much attention to the newer Dodges so I'm going to ask here...what's the Pros, what's the Cons. Is this model year something I want to get into or not? Would like to know about engine, driveline...evrything anyone want to give an opinion on. Do these have this after burner exhaust thing on them I hear people talking about, is it something that can be removed easily

  9. Will add pics to steps shortly. This covers the 47 and 48 RE transmissions but there is evidence that it is used on other years / types of Chrysler products. Procedure should be similar for the other automatics used in the 2500 3500 line of trucks. OK, changed out the Neutral Safety Switch, AKA transmission range sensor last night. Easy job, but messy as all get out. You'll need a drain pan, 1/4 drive ratchet, 6" extension ( 4" would probably work ), small TORX bits ( forgot to check the size ), 1qt or more of ATF+4 ( depending on how fast you are ). Wouldn't be a bad idea to do this in conjunction with a fluid and filter change of the transmission. …

I am trying to figure out what is wrong with my folk 2004 heater controls this is on a gas engine if that makes a difference. When they try to switch it from defrost to the floor or to the head vents, I cant get any air to come out. I am try to find out what might be the problem. I know that on my 2nd gen that the vaccum pump help controls the ac/heater door. Any ideas?

  11. I know not many here use TP bypass oil filters like Michael and I; I have to ask, why are the TP rolls getter smaller????You'd think with the "obesity" epidemic in our country, the TP rolls would be getting larger IMHO!!!! My MotorGuard bypass oil filter was designed with 4.5" wide TP rolls in mind..........just as I believe the Frantz TP filter was also.I the last couple years, the TP rolls have gone from 4.5" wide, down to 4.25" wide, now down to 4.1" or even 4.0" wide!!! For a while I thought my ___ was getting wider..............but I still have the "Schwarzeneggarian" 180lb. physique I had in high school!!!My question to all using TP bypass filters is this........…

Everything was great, with the exception of a mention of a small amount of soot in the sample. Used Mopar oil filter, changed to Baldwin. Just wonder what they mean about the soot in the sample.UpdateI know there is always soot present in the oil on a diesel, hince the coal black color of the oil. So......? Heres the report, what say you? 3462_001.pdf

  13. I have a 102k mile 48re in my 06 CR truck. I never tow more that about 5k pounds the other day I was accellerating up a hill with about 1500 lbs of 4 wheeler, coolers, trash, and butts and I think my T/C slipped a little. As soon as I felt and heard the slip, I got off the throttle. My question would be, what do I need to have a good reliable build without using a full billet input, output, and intermediate shaft, nor do I think I need a triple disc T/C or a complete rebuild. Yes I'm cheap and if I have to rebuild it, I think I'll do it myself. Where might I get the things I may need. I have a super chips vivid tuner 5 inch exhaust, and a AFE intake. 3:73's and 35's.

Hey guys I need your thoughts on these or other serpentine belts. I have 86,000 on my truck now and I think I should change the serpentine belt, but I would like a good one. http://www.puredieselpower.com/catalog/0307-dodge-59l-cummins-gatorback-poly-serpentine-belt-wac-p-33992.html http://www.genosgarage.com/GATES-K081264HD-SERPENTINE-BELT-A_C-03-12-59L-67L/productinfo/GATES-K081264HD/

OK guys, I've put about 250 miles on Mighty Whitey since the install. Here's what I've noticed/liked so far:1. Truck definitely takes bumps in the road better on the front axle. Less "jumpy" it seems.2. Because of #1, steering is much crisper and more responsive. Tires staying on the road??3. This one is a bit suggestive, but I swear I'm seeing less boost at speed than prior. When driving now, the hubs just get warm. The weather has cooled down considerably since we installed these hubs.........................not like them being borderline hot driving home after the install because it's 102-104* out and we left the tires outside baking in the sun before re-installing…

  18. Had some worries about coming down, with that much weight but it was a non-issue. Went up fine too. I always loved the power of the Cummins, but the truck gets kudos as well.

I have pulled about 6 heavy loads with my auto since I got it and I stared using the OD switch to make it down shift, all I do is take it out of TOW then put it back in tow and it will down shift nice and smooth instead of me pushing pedal and making it down shift hard and blowing smoke everywhere. Has anybody else tryed this and am I hurting the trans?I dont see where it would be a bad thing due to it down shifts nice a smooth.

  20. I've searched the transmission threads and couldn't find out what would be involved putting a PacBrake or similar exhaust brake on my stock 48re. My combined gross weight is 17.5k and so interstates are no problem but on secondary roads where you can have 10% and higher grades I could use more stopping power.
