Well, it happened again. @Tractorman and @JAG1 showed up here with RVs. They made it about 6pm last night. We took off and had dinner last night at River Rock Cafe in Riggins, ID. Thank you @JAG1 for covering dinner for the group. We came back to the house and sat out back for most of the evening till 11pm chatting away about all kinds of topics. @Tractorman truck and RV on the left and @JAG1 with his truck and slide in camper. Guys are still sleeping in and enjoying the quiet out here.

As the title states, we are going seasonal at our favorite "local" campground. It's about an hour drive from home but out in the middle of farm country. We've been going there as weekenders for the past 3 years and love the place. We have a few friends that are seasonal there as well so we decided to do the same. Per camp rules our 1994 Coachman is to old so we also had to purchase a newer used fifth wheel. We found a 2012 keystone cougar we liked and put money down on her. We will be able to pick it up on May 6th after they go though and do service and inspections and fix a couple things I pointed out. For the time being we are keeping the '94 for travel pur…

Hopefully this works for everyone that has showed interest. Our goal is to camp at Magone Lake May 13 leaving on the 16 th, giving us 3 nights and days of fun and friendly campfire. This is depending on the snow conditions for that time as we may have to opt for a lower elevation somewhere either out of John Day or Prairie City Oregon. @Tractorman is our scout and is willing to check out a few places for us before we decide. When I talked with the Ranger for this area she said we can camp anywhere really in the national forest as long as you see a fire ring and a large enough area. Generally we prefer campsites because of the paved roads and some…

  4. I am trying to get an idea on how many would like to get together for camping fishing and relaxation for a few days at Magone Lake in Eastern Oregon this late spring. Trying to get an idea because Group sites are only 60 bucks a night which is a good deal if there are 4 of us or more. I am offering to pay so no camp fees if you show up for the fun and the campfire. Let me know even if just thinking about it. If your sure that's real good. Everyone's welcome. Thinking late April or May. Thanks for considering and remember in this busy day and age you need to slow it down a notch and break loose once in awhile.

I am wondering when you do a specific search on the net, why I am suddenly getting everything only related to what I've asked for but, nothing of what I asked for?! It's weird Google started this months ago so I went on Firefox and everything was okay. But now they started the same thing with everything related. I'm asking it to bring up a simple map of Magone Lake, campground in Eastern Oregon for camping this spring.

  6. How many are interested in going to Magone Lake, Oregon? There is Hiking, Biking, Fishing and yes ATVs ! I must verify about ATV's since only one website said they are allowed. Group camp will be paid for, so no camping fees Want to go in May as there is time available to reserve the largest group area. If interested I am thinking three nights would be good but, give me an idea what your thoughts are on that. I picked this area for several reasons, one is the general location to everyone that enjoys camping plus the amenities. This is your chance to meet Michael Nelson since he will be there. …

@JAG1, just off the phone with Glenn and told him about the campgrounds you found northern CA. He says he might be interested in them and want more info. If anyone else knows of good campgrounds north of Reno or Susanville, please chime in.

  8. I had a great trip and time with IBMobile and his grandson Ethan who is such a well mannered, new graduate from high school. It was a pleasure to go hiking and metal detecting with him, while IBMobile... all he wants to do is go fishing and drink coffee. LOL! Anyhow, after about a week there I lit out a couple days early to meet Tractorman at a nice uncrowded quiet campground in NE Cali. It was cool getting a ride in his truck in the morning going for breakfast the 7 miles down the mountains into town. I tell ya, he's done some interest mods that many haven't heard about and need to see. Anyway, this strictly cattle ranching town had this very nice cafe that o…

After my recent knee surgery we decided to recuperate at the camp ground. We came out this past Friday afternoon and will be here until this coming Friday. Nice getting away from things for a bit.

    Weekend trip !!

  11. Well I think I'm going to start a diary of my adventure. As today I've been getting the last bit of work done here before leaving. I've got to do some last minutes stuff and get the last packed up. I'll continue to update this thread as I go. I'll post photos and just keep everyone updated. My ATV is ready. I've aired up my bicycle and rode out to the mailbox and back. Just need to do my laundry one last time and grab more clothes. I've gotta head to town get propane, can of gasoline and diesel fuel. I'm planning on getting to Parma as my first stop for food and supplies.

I know we don't typically ask tech advise on RV's but...... We have a 1994 coachman 5th wheel with a non-working furnace. These 12volt furnaces aren't super complicated, just want to know I'm on the right track. I have tested the sail switch-good. The over limit switch-good. I hear clicking when it tries to fire, there is spark at the electronic ignitor, nice and blue. just no fire. I also checked for gas flow to the valve of the unit-good. This leaves me with a possible bad gas valve on the furnace. I had 12v at the solenoids on the valve, it just doesn't seem to open to supply gas to the burner. Does this sound correct? Am I maybe missing something before I o…

Just want to be sure everyone is aware that it is not a good idea to convey your schedule on the forum. Better to do them by PM as you don't really want to let criminals know when your gone and your place is empty. My next door neighbor got robbed 3 yrs ago. Its not fun when that happens.

  15. Started by IBMobile,

Haystack Mountain is a free camping area on BLM land east of Lone Pine, CA in the Owens Valley between the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the west and the White Mountains to the east. We go there for our annual shooting weekend with pistols, *****, and rifles, out to 600YD, during the day followed by tall tales told around the campfire at night. There were nine of use this time. looking to the east and the White Mountains. Our modest camp site. Looking west with sunset over the Sierra Nevada Mountains

  16. Started by Mopar1973Man,

I've been studying the local area for camping spots. I've found several that you can work with in the early spring and even late winter if you RV is up to the task of cold weather. Being I live on a highway that run north and south, as the high runs north toward Whitebird you going down to about 1,200 above sea level. You can find places below the snow line to camp out. Have to be care on your choice being some large areas might have limit sunshine and be very cold in the early morning hours. We have already though about hitching up and heading towards the north in the lower section of the canyon for camping but then the snow came, still coming and it would b…

  17. Started by That Guy,

It overlooks a very picturesque and agricultural part of the Sequachee Valley. He has 90 acres and uses it as a a very secluded sanctuary where he can relax in the nude. It isn't reachable by car or rv owing to the power line trail that leads to it. No power or water, though he intends to add some form of them , almost no noise besides the odd loud truck from the farms in the valley which you have to be paying attention to hear. No air traffic either. The valley is over 1000ft below. The peak in the distance in the right of the picture is Crossville, Tennessee. The Rock of Despair and Disappointment along with the Stump of Conte…

  18. Started by That Guy,

Years ago, before smartphones, I took a trip and found a neat little camping area that is not only free, but all the spots are on Lake Santeetlah near Robbinsville, NC. It is first come/first serve with no reservations. You could reasonably fit a 20' travel trailer or 25' C class rv, I wouldn't try for much larger owing to turn around room. Tent camping it fine. Road noise is non existent. It has 5 reasonably large spots, 2 are very level, 3 are not. It is 12 miles from "The Tail" if that's the star attraction for you. There is a open pit outhouse on site towards the entrance. I would encourage looking at the picture on the google listing as nothing I have taken with my 1…

  19. Started by Mopar1973Man,

I want to post up this camper that is back at our spot. We came in on Wednesday and found that one camper at our spot. Thursday after work I hitched up and haul in to my spot 7pm. Now the entire 6 days we have been there the neighbor has not be at his camper at all. There is a large 4kw generator sitting there, then his horse shoe pins, chairs out, etc. No one has come or gone in 6 days. I'm going to report this to the local USFS office being its clearly stated you can not drop a RV and hold you spot for later. It clearly state you must occupy the camp site for a max of 18 days. Please don't be like these people and abandon your RV and stuff and think no one …
