Yes, we are getting closer and closer to riding season. Time to start thinking about what needs to be done to get the bike or bikes back out and on the road. My Harley won't take much. Need to pull the battery, charge/test and reinstall. Do my normal checks and adjustments and so on. This year I am thinking about getting the old Honda Gold Wing back out for at least a few good rides. By that I mean more than just around the block a few times. I need to get her out and stretch her legs a bit. I have been neglecting her since I bought the Harley in 2013. It's a good old bike, all original (save for the seat and sissy bar) and a decent runner. Just lost interes…

Just bought myself a Harley none runner basket case, imported recently so not yet registered here, 93 sportster frame etc fitted with a ironhead 1200, got to collect it next week. Didn't want anything original as I want to build a fat tyre springer hardtail, not bothered about it being a none runner, it turns over and has compression, I can fix most things anyway. It is rough but I only need the engine and part of the frame

We have had some intermittent warm weather here including some heavy rainfall to wash the salt from the roadways. I have seen several bikes out here and there already. I refuse to get mine out to early just for the sake of preserving it the best I can from salt, wet roads with mud and yuck on them and so on. I am however beginning to get the bug. It's time to pull the battery and charge it fully and give it a run on the load tester, check everything over good and fire her up. List of things to do so far: 1. charge and test the battery 2. check oil levels 3. check tire pressures 4. adjust clutch in the primary ( Harley Davidson ) …

The bikes have been officially put into winter storage. Gas tanks full, covers on and in the shed out if the weather. I have seen some people out on there bikes if the Temps come up enough for their liking. Myself, I won't bring the bike out once they throw salt on the roads. I will not allow that salt or the liquid, metal eating death juice to get on the motorcycles. I would rather miss out on some riding in the early winter to know I am preserving my toys the best I can. I should however remove the batteries from both and store them in the basement, have not done this yet. Battery tenders would also be a good idea.

We got the SUV packed up with all our luggage, there are 6 of us riding in the car together. Myself and wife, my son and his wife and my you gest daughter and her boyfriend. Taking 3 motorcycles with us to ride around Florida but the big trip will be on the bikes down highway 1through the keys ending in Key West. We headed out about 1pm on Friday. As of this post we are still driving we are presently about 110 miles from our rental house. We had a slight setback in ohio about 3 hours down the road when my motorcycle tipped o er a bit. No damage thanks to the wheel chocks I insisted we all get and bolt to the trailer deck. It seems that one strap on the…

So I with my sons help changed both tires on the Harley Sunday. I don't know if I would do that again. At least not without some sort of better tire "machine". We used hand tire tools for motorcycles and that was rough. My wheels are spoked so tubes are required, we ruined one for the front tire trying to pry the new tire back over the wheel. Eventually we got them done. Tire are mounted. I uses the balance beads in the tube for balancing them. I also found the rear wheel bearings were pretty tight so ordered those tonight along with the proper bearing tools for the job. Pics of the new rubber below.

As for the Goldwing it been sitting for years. I parked it after I blew the left head gasket. No matter what I've done after that always had a over heat issue. Radiator rodded out and clean, the water pump replaced, thermostat replaced, full gauges added (Autometer), etc. Still run upwards of 230*F on a cool day. The only way to ride it was near 40*F day then it barely makes like 200*F coolant temp. My theory is the head was milled too much and compression is too high now.

Finally was able to get the bike out today. It was sunny and 60°. My 2 sons have been wrenching on their bikes lately and were ready for a short ride today so I fired mine up and went along. Almost got the bike stuck in the mud not to far out of the motorcycle shed. Oops. It was a nice hour long cruise. Nice to be able to enjoy a ride with my 2 boys. Also, in my pretrip inspection I realized it's tire time! Placed my online order for a new pair of Perelli Night Dragon motorcycle tires. Should have them by the end of the week. Gonna need them for the trip to Florida in May anyway.

You read that right, here in northwest Ohio it's supposed to be sunny and 70 tomorrow. The bikes battery is on the slow charger to be load tested in the morning. Might have to take off for a couple hours tomorrow to get a pack of smokes or something. Lol

Here's my '16 Harley Tri Glide Ultra in Cosmic Blue Pearl (one year color). So far, it has Vance and Hines full exhaust system, Screamin' Eagle stage 1 air cleaner, Power Vision and Target Tune tuner, Legend Suspension front and back, 1.25" rear lift kit, 10" apes, and Harley heated grips. Waiting on my buddy so we can install my Fueling Reaper 574 cams, Screamin' Eagle perfect fit pushrods, Torrington inner cam bearings, and .030" head gaskets. I'm having an Upholstery shop make a custom seat cover for my CVO heated Hammock seat.

Bought the bike in August of 2018 I think? It was a left over at the dealer. Bought it with 0 miles and this is my first motorcycle. 1300cc liquid cooled v-twin comes from the factory with like 75hp. Hardest part is its not a well known bike so very little aftermarket and what aftermarket is there is expensive. Its a fun bike though. put some Vance and Hines short shots on for some sound. Has an ECU tune instead of a piggyback tuner. Still need to get it fitted a bit more for me, new seat and need the foot pegs moved forward a bit more. Might get some mini apes or something for bars but my handle bars dont mount normally like a Harley. Ill get some…

We had a warm day here Wednesday, my 2 sons took their bikes out for a ride, I was out of town for work so couldn't go. Doubt I would have anyway since there is still a lot of salt on the roads from the last snowfall. I usually don't get mine out until after it warms up and some rain to wash the salt away. I was a bit envious of their ride I must admit. I can't wait until warmer weather gets here to get the Harley out and get some wind therapy. Today it's 20 degrees with 20-30 mph winds. It's cold, or at least feels like it. I've had enough winter, I'm ready for spring. In May me and the wife along with one of my sons and his wife will be taking a trip …
