Hello, I am about to install a Air dog 100. I have purchased a big line kit from vulcan performance with the tapped elbow. So I can run a a needle valve and connect a grease gun line to it then to the electric fuel sender. I know alot of people by pass the filter heater cannister. How do you think it will perform. I know there will be another filter in the mix. I read a post on another site on a install like that. In the post the user cut the filter and used the o ring from the top of the filter. Any opinoins will be appreciated. Thanks,John

Ok, I am very curious on this. I have seen Cummins videos online and I began to notice that when I turn my key to "run"(engine off), my oil pressure goes up to full operating pressure and not one other truck in those videos have. I'm aware of pre-oilers but I have not seen anthing unusual about the oil lines nor any pump sounds before or after start-up or shut-down. Any ideas?

I am a retired maintenance mechanic so I am pretty knowledgeable but my question is everybody around here wants $300 to install a vp44 is it that hard or can most people do it.The one thing that concerns me is the keyway falling into the case. Also can the pump gear get off the cam gear while you are doing this. And also is it hard to line up the pump with the keyway.I watched a guy do this on utube and it was a really good video and he shows what to do and not do.

Ever since I've had the truck, it's only had to barely crank once to start the engine. Now it has to crank 10, 15 sometimes 20 times before it will start. It runs fine after starting. I have a two year old Blue Chip VP44, a new lift pump and good fuel pressure and have hand over handed the entire fuel system looking for leaks. This includes: injectors, supply lines, return lines, banjo-bolt o-ring seals, fuel line steel tubes to hose connections and have detected no leaks. I have no codes showing. A fellow Cummins owner thought it might be as simple as a faulty fuel cap not venting and drawing a negative pressure on the tank, causing the fuel to syphone back to the …

I have a 98.5 auto, stock 24v with no start condition last week. Wasn't getting fuel but started after about 20 min. I changed fuel, air and oil filters and primed it. Started fine but no start next time. 50/50 start/no start over the next week. If the lift pump would prime by bumping the starter, the truck would start every time. Did a lot of stuff suggested on here and other places with no luck. Finally pulled no 9 fuse and ASE ? relay and cleaned bayonets Truck has been starting and running perfect the last 4 days. Any ideas?

To all; I have been having trouble with my 2000 2nd Gen, The truck was shifting strangely, I was getting what I thought was "dead pedal". I perused the board for answers to others questions/posts. I could not get more than the 1693 code from the odometer readout...no matter how many times I did it...sorry Michael, I just couldn't get it!So far I have done the following, and the problem comes and goes.1, I removed and cleaned ALL the grounds in the system, and the battery leads, and the fuse/relay box leads2, I have replaced the Carter pump with a Fass replacement pump, just because and I have 153000 on the truck3, I have replaced the APPS with one from Timbo. 4, Today I w…

Well here we go. I have a AFE intake filter stage 1, a friends idea is the stock filter is better then the AFE, in that it is not sealed good enough to keep the hot air from the engine from being sucked in,and that these type of filters itself will get pin holes and allow dirt in, thus losing horse power, were as the stock air filter draws from the cooler air in the fender and do not get the pin holes, any thoughts.............thanks

Trying to decide which to purchase, the Frantz filter for 200.00 or the Amsoil bypass, 260.00. The amsoil dealer has a 1999 cummins and has run so far 90,000 miles with the last oil change. He bought the truck to test his products. He changes the filter and two qts of oil every 25000 miles and runs a oil sample once a year. So far everything is good. Any ideas...thanks

Buddy of mine has a 1999 2500 4x4 (I assume 1999 on the plate on the door says mfg date is 7/99).He was driving his truck working just fine, then it died suddenly at 70, now it will start runs real ruff, barley idles, and there is no response from the throttle (aka dead pedal). The check engine light is on, however the ignition key on/off 3 times does not display codes via the odometer, it does on my 2002 2500.My question does the 1999 display trouble codes via the odometer (digging on the internet some say it should some say it will not)?2nd any ideas / hints might be wrong with the truck ?I know codes are needed otherwise just chasing our tails but thought someone might …

I installed a airdog 100 and I finally install a glowshift fuel pressure gauge. I noticed the when I first ran the truck the gauge would read between 18 and 20 psi, then at times it would read between 16 and 20 lbs. Is the gauge the problem or the airdog...thanks
