problem with my 2002. The ebrake is dragging. The left side is 135-150 and the right side is 235 and as high as 280. I am pulling my hair out over this one, I backed off the adjuster 3 times now and no temp change. I backed off the cable adjuster till I only have about 2 inches of ebrake pedal from the floor. I pushed the arms that the cable is attached to back on the hubs, helping the spring in other words. Go down the road and no change. This is insane, the brake disk on the inside is 109 but when you shoot the ebrake hub its 200 plus, the caliper is 97-109, the hub where the outer bearing is 90 degrees. I take my temp gun and shoot between the rim and the brake disk.

I'm asked frequently why I consistently "tinker" with my truck even though it's running good, no maintenance issues to address usually, just want to flip the hood and stare in amazement sometimes. But, this time I spotted something while I was installing a BHAF this morning. An exhaust manifold bolt was backing out on the bottom rear cylinder. Had I not "tinkered" with the truck this morning I would not have spotted this and possibly lost the bolt all together. I tightened this one down and checked the others. The upper bolt on the same cylinder was about half a turn loose, the rest were good. Glad I caught that!

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I tried searching and nothing came up. I hear the front wheel bearing humming so time to replace them. I've replaced them once already with Detroit Axle units so I'm wondering what brand everyone has had luck with?? '01 2wd abs with drums in the rear. Thanks for any input fellas & have a great weekend

So my stock exhaust manifold on my 2000 cracked the other day. I have a 98 with a cracked block that I'm robbing the manifold from. The one I'm robbing is a 3 piece ATS. Problem is, ATS manifold has 4 studs in it, while the stock turbo has 2 studs in it. Which one would you guys drill out the holes on to get them to mate together? I'm not ready yet to put the compounds from the donor truck on my 2000 yet.

Quick question, with the 8pin connector unplugged at the transmission, will the pin 1 (red wire) still have power, or will the pcm shut off the relay because it’s not getting reading from pressure sensors, etc?

I had some nasty rust on the tailgate. Idaho is using really corrosive salt this year. This is not to be perfect bit as a stop gap till I am done with my chemo or when I have the funds for the body work. Thanks to Mark he's got a nice palm sander and good assortment of sanding disc's. There where two spots where 40 grit grinder was used to dig at the deep pitted metal. Then using black primer to match the gloss black I bought today. Help bond the new paint to the metal and hopefully stop the rusting process. I've got a few spots on the body where rust blisters are starting and need the blister broke open metal cleaned up …

Total rebuild on 00 24v. I put in my 02 truck with rebuilt nv4500. I’m having trouble finding the correct wiring harness to make this work. Can anyone point me in the right direction please. Or can I just use the ecm/pcm from my 02 and make it work?

  9. Coming into Rainier this morning the truck wouldn't idle down and I was heading for Castle Rock and then the truck hiccuped and backfired at exit 46 so I turned around to head home and now it went into complete limp mode only partial throttle and then now no throttle and the code is saying ECM failure. I disconnected my adrenaline and tried running the truck and it has the same code and it still has no throttle. Now I'm stuck by tractor supply in kelso waiting for AAA to take me home. I just had a local shop in Scappoose install a rebuilt engine about 500 miles ago and I'm sure there's is a total coincidence that this is happening now but it's just one thing after anothe…

  11. A while back I posted some concerns about how long an OEM muffler would last on the OEM exhaust system. I was mainly concerned if back pressure could be an issue as the muffler aged. I never really did get a definitive answer, probably because most people had moved up to 4" and 5" exhaust systems from the turbo back with either an aftermarket muffler, or no muffler at all. So, I decided to do a little research on my own. I found a general statement that indicates Cummins does not want to see any exhaust back pressure above 3 psi. I connected a gauge to the 1/8" port on the exhaust elbow and strapped the gauge onto my windshield wipers and then went on a …

I need to quickly getbny throw out bearing changed before leaving for a trip tomorrow. Thinking of I pull both cross members that I should be able to pull the trans and transfer case as one unit with out draining the fluids that are brand new. Has anyone done this?? Is there enough room? I have a HD trans jack, so I'm not worried about weight.

  13. CCD (Chrysler Collision Detection) Data Bus Description The Chrysler Collision Detection (also referred to as CCD or C2D ) data bus system is a multiplex system used for vehicle communications on many Chrysler Corporation vehicles. Within the context of the CCD system, the term “collision“ refers to the system’s ability to avoid collisions of the electronic data that enters the data bus from various electronic control modules at approximately the same time. Multiplexing is a system that enables the transmission of several messages over a single channel or circuit. Many Chrysler vehicles use this principle for communication between the various microprocessor based …

So I've come to the almighty moparman forums seeking help on an unusual issue I'm having. My truck is heavily modified by the previous owner and I'm constantly having to fix one thing or another and chase things. So I have 2 issues now 1 of which I believe I know the issue but don't know a good fix. First issue is I get trans limp mode and a P1689 with no buss on the CCD when turning on the HVAC blower at any speed. Once turned off it goes back to normal. I have taken the ground off for the HVAC controls and the no buss issue also happens without the blower motor running only in face vents or floor vents position. Looking at wiring diagrams I can't tell where any of the …

Oil pressure gauge has intermittently been working for the past couple days, been working on start up then I'll start driving and it will randomly drop then come back alive. Seems like it likes to drop out more so when I come to a stop and the truck is idling with lower oil pressure. When I'm cruising and have like 40 psi it usually stays alive. If I come to a stop and it does while I'm sitting there idling I can rev and hold it at like 1100 then it magically comes back alive on the dash. Is this most likely the oil pressure sensor? Or could it be a bad ground somewhere? Sitting idling right now and it's jumping back and fourth check gauges light will come on it will drop…

I checked and set valve lash on my 2001 Dodge Cummins. I went .010” on intake valves 1-2-4 and .020” on exhaust valves 1-3-5 on the compression stroke TDC, and .010” on intake valves 3-5-6 and .020” on exhaust valves 2-4-6 on the exhaust stroke TDC, but I noticed that intake valve #5 was slightly loose on the compression stroke, .003” and intake valve #2 was slightly loose on the exhaust stroke, .003”. Shouldn’t these be tight? Or is there a slight overlap while at TDC compression/exhaust that would cause these to be loose? Or could it be push rods or some other wear. The truck starts and runs good. Thanks!
