I see I'm going to have to replace an expansion plug in my CTD. I have a some leakage coming from one of my plugs and don't wan't to revisit the problem again when I install a new one. What type of Permatex or sealer is best for this repair?

I found that using an appliance timer works great with my engine block heater. I set the on and off time to my usage. I keeps the engine warm without it being on all the time. I think a regular light timer would be a little to light duty.

I was surprised when I replaced my water pump. The OEM pump was made in England. The replacement pump from AutoZone and was manufactured in Canton , Ohio. I thought for sure it was going to be an import. The replacement also has a limited life time warranty. kind of nice that some parts are still made in the USA.

My fuel shut down solenoid had a failure. At first the solenoid would hold but not pull up the plunger. I maually had to push the plunger up to in order to start. I replaced the relay and fuse link at the battery. I tuned the engine over and the pig tail of the solenoid caught fire. Lucky fire didn't spead beyond the wiring and plastic cover at the solenoid. I decided to switch over to a manual cable cable setup vs OEM electric. Works great, see my write up on this conversion in this forum.

My fuel shutdown/start cable setup. The photos show where I used the old solenoid to actuate the fuel shut off and location or the cable control into the cab. The setup is pretty straight forward. I left the spring inside the boot. This will allow the fuel lever to snap shut when the cable handle is released.

I made the replacement relay for the fuel solenoid look OEM. I gutted the OEM relay housing. Just plug in the new replacement. The base of the old relay socket will hold the replacement 70 Amp relay in the gutted housing. Future relay replacement will be a snap.

On the way to work this evening, I made a right turn onto a main street and after I completed the turn the steering wheel locked in a right turn. Luckily I got the truck stopped before I hit the new car that was parked on the curb! Once I got stopped I noticed that one of my keys on my keyring had swung into position to become jammed in the back of the steering wheel. There are two holes back there for the mounting hardware for the airbag; which just happened to catch the key! I think I am going to remove all other keys from my truck keys until I can figure out a fix for this. I seem to remember 1993 Dodge Dakotas had a recall for this and issued a fix which consisted of …

I didn't know where else to put this so, this is as close as i get it to the topic. I was reading through the code list thread and for testing it says "With DRBIII Scan Tool". How do i get my hands on such an expensive tool like that when they are priced over what i can afford? Are there other scan tools like this one that maybe Snap-On, Matco, or Mac Tools has?I'd really like to get my hands on one of these and have been wanting one for a while now. Thanks,Dave

UPS truck arrives daily. Wifee asked if I bought out the internet? Well, a few of them were Christmas presents (outgoing). The rest were for my CTD. She knows I bought some stuff for the truck. I'm taking advantage of all those Christmas Specials & free shipping... I should go put a big bow on it. Latest was used AirDog system... looks like big line kit & fittings. I'll explore the box after the holiday (if I can contain myself).

My '96 SCLB held ~34gal of fuel. My '01 QCSB, on a totally empty tank, only held ~25-26gal.I've read so many conflicting bits of info on tank sizes for the RAMs, that I'm not sure which to believe? Do any of you have any hard numbers that a man can take belief in?I've read all have 34gal tanks, 8' beds have 34gal, 6.5' beds have 26, 6.5' beds have 34, 8' beds have 44 (wtf? ) and so on.What do you guys have?

I mean, they're everywhere (ebay, amazon, etc.) but 99.999% of the ones out there, like Recon, are for 03-08 body style. Is the roofline/curvature that different between the two body styles? And anyone know of a template out there for 2gen trucks? Anyone here installed their own cab lights on a non-oem cab light truck?

I think I screwed up. I was replacing brake pads/rotors and thought the brake fluid could use refreshing (old & dark). I sucked out all the old fluid in the reservoir with a turkey baster & refilled it with new fluid. I was alone & don't have a bleeder bomb so this is the process I used. I attached a clear vinyl hose to the rt/front bleeder, ran it uphill about 18" then down into a container with the end submerged in fluid. I opened the bleeder & pumped the brake pedal (engine off) to the floor about 10 times, not closing off the bleeder in between pumps, occasionally checking & replenishing the reservoir. Slow, deliberate strokes to the floor, remov…

I want to install the BHAF further onto the fender than typical. I like this heat slick heat shield. Furnace duct heat shield: http://www.directcon.net/drkayak/Ram/Heat%20Shield But further onto the fender. But then the OEM flexi intake tube will be too short & angled wrong. I found rubber eblows... but that would require 4 more clamps & 2 metal or plastic tubing pieces. I was wanting a clean install. Rubber elbows in all sizes: http://store.airflo.com/nextpage.html Nice Custom Metal extension elbow: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-performance-parts-discussion/143145-bhaf-7.html but is not something I could do myself. http://www.amazon.co…
