So for quite sometime now, been driving like a hyper miler. Or atleast, I thought. Try to drive within the power band, coast to lights, use brakes as little as possible.

So I got the idea, let's see how I do driving like a normal person. So instead of driving in2nd gear, to keep the rpms up, I drive normally letting the transmission determine the gear.

I went from an approximate 400 miles per tank to an approximate 600 per tank. I gained another 200 miles by just keeping the gear selector in drive!!!

Now I'm going to try and see what else I can squeeze from this puppy!

  • After stepping up to the Cummins from the V10 l lost a lot of friends. They all worked at gas stations.

  • Not bad at all! I might have beat that tho   Made a round trip from home (Snowflake, AZ) to Mesa, AZ to pickup this trailer for my son, 7300 lbs.   340 miles, 21.5 gal=15.81 mpg.

1994 GMC with a 350

Running empty, my K1500 Suburban got 19 MPG on one round trip from Kansas City to Madison, WI and back. Kept my speed around 65. That 42 gallon tank was nice!

I grew up during a 92 light K2500 and a 93 K1500 burb, both with TBI 350’s. It was rare to get more than 15mpg, even trying. Dad sold the 93 for a 97 K2500 burb with a 454. 11-13 empty, and 4-7 towing... but it had great power. After he put headers/exhaust on it the milage could touch 14 empty. Made it to 325K, lost the engine and trans in the same day and unrelated. Should have bought it to stuff the power train in a K5.

Years ago we were moving my folks from MT back to WA. My brother had a 06 QC LB 2500 Hemi and a 7x16 enclosed trailer. He towed it empty to MT at 12 mpg or lower. I towed it back to WA full at 14 in my 05 QC LB 5.9. Kinda funny.

Their stock value probably decreased when that thing blew.
