I am trying to figure out why my truck will start surging at 2300rpms and above.

If I return my quad to stock settings (0) it will not surge at any other power level 1-10 it will surge.

My my current settings are

PL: 11

max fuel stretch: 1400

Tps pump Min: 0

Tps pump Max: 100

Tps can min: 10

Tps can max: 100

Timing: 7.5

Timing Scale: 100

Boost scaling: 40 ( I have tried 20 and 35 as well)

So your truck surges with that custom tuning?

What level / levels does it surge on?

Generally I would not have the wiretap TPS low set lower than the canbus low.

I would change it to this

Yes with the custom tuning.

I only got got to play with it a little  driving to work. For sure 4-10.

I'll change it and see what happens, when I drive home in the morning.

If it still surges try on lvl 2 only and see if it surges.

what base tune are you running?  1000 series, 2000 or 3000?

Still surges. If I swap back to default tune I don't have any ploblems.

What level does it start surging on. If you run on lvl 1 does it surge lvl2? Lvl3+?

It's in the custom settings then.

This is what I would do. Correct me if I'm wrong Nick.

Timing 0

Timing scaling 100

Can and pump max 100

Can min 10-20

Pump min 30-40

Stretch 1400

boost scaling between 25 and 30

That'll take the surge out if it's timing related. If the surge stops, slowly increase the timing until it starts to surge a bit then back it back off.

Tyler,

That does work as a plan on action. :thumbup2:

Timing set: 0

still surges 2-10

Surging may not be the right word. It starts to cut out when you hit 2300 RPM

I will try this and see what happens.

light throttle or heavy throttle or both?

  • Author

Throttle doesn't it seem to matter just the Rpm's

alright,

Report back on the tune tyler sent.  You can bump timing back up to 7.5 as it is not the cause of the surge.

  • Author

Didn't get to test it this afternoon. I have some errands to run in town tomorrow so I will report back then.

Did a run today the cutting out only seems to be in 3rd gear at 2700 rpms.

Sometimes my turbo timer doesnt seem to work when my tablet it off.

connection to the device shouldn't matter, I would guess that it is not working due to TPS input or misreading.

Should I check my quad connections?

nope,

Your surge issue is strange.  I would just run the defualt tune until the V2 tuning is released.  all my custom tuning surge issues went away once I was able to do the V2 tuning.

Your turbo timer issue would be related to your apps if anything.  The box is what handles the turbo time the screen doesn't really have an effect on it, at least according to the code.

Your APPS sensor isn't getting low enough voltage to trigger idle validation switch so the turbo timer can run. If the APPS sensor is in the throttling position the it shuts down instantly.

I hate to be that guy, but is this an app problem?

Cable issue maybe? I know there was a problem with CANBus lead being backwards. Call Quadzilla and talk to Spencer he'll help you out.
