I need my alternator tested. Every place I've called says we can do it but I've read on here not all tests are the same. I read from one poster that he had autozone and another one test his and it was fine but ended up at Napa and they said it was cooked. What do they test for that's different?

The biggest problem is the quality of the employee doing the test. Some do not have clue of what they are looking at or testing. Most dont know what you are talking about on AC voltage. All they know is DC.
