Truck started acting up last weekend and had codes for APPS. I reset the APPS, which is about a year old Timbo APPS, and ran fine. This evening coming home from work truck was cutting out(dead pedal) Cruise control wouldn't even work and kept kicking off on its own. Got it home thankfully and got codes of 0562, 0575, 0342, 0112, 1488, 0606, 1295, 0237. Have Edge JWA truck is 2001 with 6spd and 273k on clock. Am I lookin and a new ECM? Any suggestions or where to start.

  • Sounds like an ECM to me, but I would go through this first.    Return the truck back to stock electrically, pull out the edge etc.   Get some dielectric grease and clean and apply

Test the alternator for excessive AC noise. The alternator is the first step. You might get away without messing with the ECM. More important to clean the battery terminals. The grounds under the hood

  • You are not far off from where mine was when the ECM went. Had a boat load of codes except the 606 ECM code. As pricey as they are all of the above is the way to go to be sure. I would start saving up

No longer producing new ECM units any longer. All ECMs from this point on are all remanufactured.

So I should plan on truck being down a few days waiting on a new one? Any recommendations on where to get rebuilt ecm?

I went the internet rebuild route and my truck was down for 6 weeks. After waiting a week and half for the first one which did not work I had to return it and waited 4 and half weeks for the replacement. it worked but no cruise control. It lasted a year and I ended up getting one from Cummins. Still a reman but also still working 5 + years later. Even when I bought mine there were no new ones available. I was lucky and found a shop in Tennessee that got it, and programmed it. Cost me $1400.

Like Mike says do your research. My first rebuilt came from Automotive Scientific Inc. ASI

Yep that are exactly 0 new ecms out there.  You need to get one rebuilt or get one out of a running truck.

I would suggest the rebuild route but ensure you get a good warranty.

Yeah that's just about my luck was hopin dealer would have one so I could get it going before next week. May try cummins tomorrow and see if they have one.

Just remember if they do have one I am pretty sure you have to get programmed. Cummins wont program it for a Dodge.

Cummins has them available but they are really proud of them. I'll be researching a place to buy reman.

Yeah I don't know I was expecting steep price but not that steep. They had 12 at distributor in Memphis.

Wow that is a lot of money.  I've bought several cars that didn't cost that much.

I am thinking thats a MSRP that someone can defeat. When I bought mine Dodge was wanting about the same price plus programming. I was a little shocked that the guy I found got for me for the price I paid. Kind of like the price a walk in pays versus a regular customer.

Kind of like when I buy the WIX BHAF at NAPA. $65 until I turn them down. Then they give it to me for the  $35 trucker price.

Didn't sound like they wanted to lower price. He even told me another place to try. I got one coming should be here Tuesday and will have to get it flashed for my truck. I also wanted to recheck ripple test since I didn't believe the ECM just died on its own. Low and behold after cleaning the terminal on alternator to get good connection the AC volts were between .02-.03 with spikes every few seconds of .8-1.5. I'll be getting a new alternator before I put another ECM on
