Posted July 1, 20186 yr I need to replace my headliner in my 96 Ram. The visors have some holes in them also, so I figured I'd do them all at once. How does the visor fasten together? It looks like they snap together. Bob
July 5, 20186 yr Author I checked them out a little over the 4th of July and the material wraps around the visor and then goes between the plastic inner core. I'm hoping that they just snap together, but it probably isn't that easy. Bob
July 9, 20186 yr I too am curious I re upholstered my headliner and found some visors in better shape out of a yard but I don’t think there is anyway to wrap them without stitching them. To me it wasn’t a job for a do it yourselfer. Also get your material from Joann fabrics and use a coupon off their website mine costed 20 bucks plus the adhesive. It matched perfectly too.

What color is tha fabric? Is it headliner fabric or does it go by another name?
July 9, 20186 yr Author I've seen it on Joann's website and it's listed as headliner material. That's probably where I'll get mine. tylertrebilcock, What adhesive did you use and how is it holding up. Bob

More of a foam roll with the fabric glued to it. Same material the upholstery shops use. it’s the grey they have black grey and tan and the grey matches very well. 4 hours ago, unioncreek said: I've seen it on Joann's website and it's listed as headliner material. Bob I used pyratex it was 10 dollars cheaper than the 3M stuff but I have a feeling that will come back to bite me as I live in AZ with 110 degree heat. So far so good though.

Great info. I am adding that project to my list. Thanks L8tr D
July 13, 20186 yr Author tylertrebilcock, I checked Joann fabric and they only have 54 inch wide headliner. My 96 measures closer to 56 inches. Did you stretch yours a littler or is your headliner narrower than mine? I may just put a seam across the headliner just above the seats. Anything is better than what I have now. Bob

Bob Yeah I have a 96 1500 and the headliner is significantly larger. Also because of the suicide doors on 98.5-02 they made them smaller for some reason. I did have to stretch mine a little but just remember the more you stretch it the more it wants to pull off the fiberglass. If you see in the photos above it just barely fit side to side. I’m curious how difficult it’s gonna be to get it out of the 96 cab with only having one door.
July 15, 20186 yr Author I've found some info on removing it. You have to slide it up onto the dash to get it free from the back. Then recline your seats back and slide it all the way back, then slide it under the steering wheel and dash. Then rotate it out the passenger side door. Bob Edited July 15, 20186 yr by unioncreek
