Now comes the questions.

Is this a log? I have excel, but can't figure out how to set it up for charts. All I have is a bunch of rows with mega information.

Do you have to set up the Quad every time you start the truck?

So far I can't believe what this thing can read for information. EGT'S have never been this low before just zipping around town.

I have a lot to learn, first I need a tune to start with & learn how to log, read them, & make the correct changes.

This tune is just something to see if all works. I'm sure 1 of you kind gentlemen can point me in the right direction to get a tune started. I will need numbers & headings though, until I learn your guys magic touch on the correct procedure.

If your maxing out your canbus, 4095 is max and need more power, that's where wiretap comes in. With bigger injectors I use canbus for the most part.

That's the log.

You can parse out the info you want and chart from there.  There is an article that has a how to.

No. You can run headless. I love doing that quite a bit that way other people have no idea. I've still got my gauges on the a-pillar.

Most of it you can do in realtime just watching the display. Then you need to listen to the might Cummins it will talk to you and tell you what it wants.

Crazy Suggestion: Since your running studs already crank that cruise timing up for the daily driver tune. I'm now up to +7 degrees and doing excellent. Just past 21.32 MPG and still rising. EGT's are super low. Just math out you 1.5k and 2k band with the plus of the cruise number and make sure you stay below your largest amount of timing. (safety suggestion). Like my truck can run up to about 27 or 28 degrees maxed out on timing then the buck starts above that. This is my last step up cruise timing and where I'll stop. Do also remember I'm running 320 bar on the injectors so my event is late already.

Can you give me a hint as where,, I seem to be looking to hard or just missing it all together. This is what I get for trying to go to fast!

I am worried about timing from running this HR pump. I will learn as I go along.

Hotrod pumps are not good for tuners.

For tuners with can't tune I would agree. But it should work great with the quad I would think?

Yeah, it could but you going to have to work around the Hotrod timing advancement. Which you unable to control that static timing boost. So you going to amp up the retard side to get spool of the turbo.

I don't need to amp up my retard side more than it is. Lol.

Is there any documentation out there to what the timing advancement is? I don't know much about the HRVP. I assume it also increases available flow.

I have asked about how much timing advance there is, but no one can hear me @BD. They claim up to 100hp increase & yes it flows.

I have been beating this pump for over 10 years now, & not 1 problem. If & when it goes, there will be another in it's place just like it.

I have been running 3 weeks with no tuner & all I can say is that anybody normal would say thats more than enough power, but I am not normal. The thing that has made the most difference is the Hamilton cam (188-220). It is something you can feel & hear. With the Quad on 2, I am not going to have rear tires for very long. I can't imagine what it's going to do when properly tuned.

I'm just not having fun trying to figure out the Excel part to make & read charts. Once I get that done, everything else is straight forward.

Kzimmer, I might just have to come over to the Queen city to get some tuning lessons!

Haha right on, let me know! I'm actually in Alberta visiting family, I'll be passing through your neck of the woods tomorrow on the way home.

Kzimmer, I might take you up on that, not that far. I love the Ernfold to Moose Jaw stretch.

Didn't get no tune time, wind was blowing to hard.

When first looking for a start point on canbus, do you set the first one & then all of them accordingly every time you move the first setting?

How do I know what my last setting is going to be on the eqilizer to set the stretch from the first setting?

What I did was go from 88% to 128%, then I changed to 70% to 150%. & left all the other settings the same. The first setting ran not to bad, the second setting turn it in to a coal train. Looks like I'm going to learn the hard way.

Is power reduction & valet mode the same? I think I found my problem. I'm looking for 2 different settings (2 toggles).

Me78569,

I must apologize. I did not see this till now. It is going to be nothing like any of the past electronic boxes on it. I can feel that already it is very different. I can hardly wait for the tuning to come to light. Lots of help here, just ask. Even foolish questions.

Valet mode is level 1.  The tuning variable that controls that level is "max valet mode power"

This level is also refered to as anti-theft / power reduction mode / wife mode / etc

point is it is a level in the tuner that can make the truck VERY slow, if not undrivable.

Thank you for setting me straight Me78569! Gotta love the knowledge from these fine folks. Sometimes it's the simple things.

I have gone from 100 down to 5% with no change in power in valet mode. Where do you set the rest of the settings? I READ instructions & they make no sense to me. What am I missing?

If your quad is installed properly and functioning, there's no was your truck will drive on level 1 with max valet mode power set to 5%. It probably won't even drive below 50%. Have another look at the articles and videos and whatnot. Which part of the instructions don't make sense? If you can cite an example I'm sure we can help you out.

Do you set all canbus the same or graduate up for each psi as you go?

They told me this would get worse as I got older.

It makes sense to gradually increase in % per PSI. The more you do, the more aggressive the fuelling will be. Too aggressive isn't always a good thing for daily driving and/or towing, and can even make cruise control surge a little. Have a look at the downloads section for some user submitted tunes and see what others have done. It might make some sense.
