So, I decided to start a new thread on this.  My truck has been running like crap since I installed my 100hp ddp injectors.  I know they set the pop pressure at 290, which is low.  But when it's idling, or driving under light throttle it almost sounds Iike it has a fuel knock.  Not sure what is going on, but is there any reason why I can't pull them and set pop pressure to 320? Not sure if this will help or not.  They are really smoky, which is the nature of them I guess, but it leaves a slight clearly visible haze even driving under lite throttle, so not sure if there are other underlying issues.  Truck does have a airdog 100 and a new vp.

  • Please remember that DDP historically runs 155* spray angle nozzles.  DDP injectors are historically Smokey and hot.   If it quacks like a duck....     Agree you should hotwir

Hot wire the VP44 and see if there is change to idle performance. If the VP44 is bad it should stay the same if it changes its possible wiring or ECM.

This is why I would suggest hot wiring the VP44. If the ECM is the problem it will idle normal with the ECM disconnected. If its the VP44 then the problem will still be there.

What issues did you have with the DAP besides fuel knock?

Smoke and haze is normal with DDP.    I am not sure if that has gotten worse or not since DAP injectors.

Is there an actual driveablity issue beyond the noise and haze?

The smoke is much worse with the DDPs. The fuel knock is still there, but not all the time. There is no driveablity issues. Just smokes all the time regardless of throttle. It does not smoke at idle, only under throttle, EGTs are about 750 to 800 at 65mph.

that's DDP,   replace the injectors or the nozzles and repop.  I wouldn't worry about fuel knock

Will do. Any suggestions for decent nozzles at a reasonable price?

I would talk to DAP.   they have good budget stuff.

Why did you change from DAP to DDP?

Like myself I'm still a 7 x 0.010 DAP injector VCO popped at 320 and nearly zero smoke. Initial stomp of the throttle its will smoke some but clears quickly. I just had @Jthor driving my truck home as I followed with a customers vehicle. Still more than enough power to spin the tires loose on dry pavement.

They were used from a buddy and thought they were the causing the issues I was having, but I was wrong. They were definitely better on smoke than the DDPs, so I'm just going to swap the nozzles and re pop the DDPs and call it good

I'd send your DAP's back to DAP and ask them to go over them for you.  It will be cheap and they can fix any issues.  Then throw them back in and sell your DDP's and get back what you can.

We can go over the injectors and re-pop them.  If they are our injectors we cut labor in 1/2.    Regarding DDP injectors I recommend working with them directly.  They have a good reputation.

I dont have the DAPs anymore or I would, I gave them back and my buddy sold them. So I might just buy some DAP vco nozzles and put them on the DDPs and re pop and be done with it so my truck is not down while I send them to DDP
