Just doing a little Overclocking with my new build. Specs are in front of you. What do you think?

This is an i5-12600k, Water cooled with triple fan push pull. Mobo is a Z690 A pro. Ram is Patriot Viper 4400 Mhz. Can you say fast? New settings are 52 x 6 core & 42 x 4 ecore. Idles in mid 30 C @ 1.350 Volts. Pretty far away from stock specs.

Very nice!   You have that i5 OC'd to the speeds of the i9 at half the price of one.

I really like the new 12th Gen Alderlake chips (but I may be a little biased :whistle2:)

I just built a new system too.

i9 12900K

EVGA 3600 CLC AIO cooler

32 GB OLOy 3600 Ram DDR4 (not the best quality but I wanted white)

Asus Prime Z690-P WiFi D4

Samsung 980-Pro M.2 1TB

all in a Corsair 7000D Full-Tower case

Boy I need to update my computer really bad. I did all the plug in stuff like RAM, SSD hard drive (root folder) then a hybrid SSD/mechanical drive (home folder). 800 watt power supply. I just need motherboard, CPU, and updated RAM. I'm still running the same PC since, well 2006 or so. Ubuntu Linux 20.04 still seems fast and doesn't really slow down at all. I just keep replacing fans when the bearings fail. Replace hard drives when Ubuntu Linux reports SMART drive data has issues. I've got 16 GB RAM but only use 4 GB in worse case. Here is what I've got with live running data from both my webserver and local machine in real time.

Of course this pops up as I'm looking into building a gaming/video editing/3d modeling rig..

Nothing concrete yet but I'm starting to build a list.. Still new to the pc world so in the learning phase of what to get..

@jag, forgive the bluntness of the question but why? Are you an extreme over clocker or needed for work programs or even just because you can? I'm just curious at this point.

Microsoft overhead memory, CPU, and hard drive usage are huge. Most people running Microsoft Operating Systems are always looking for a little more speed being Microsoft overhead on CPU usage is huge. One of the few reasons I ditch Microsoft and moved to Linux, no longer have a boat anchor to hold the CPU down constantly running activation security software, antivirus, malware software, firewalls, constant reporting back to Microsoft, etc. Matter of fact I just rebuilt my roommate's PC from Windows 10 (Dell Laptop) to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and she is very happy it 3 times faster to boot up and barely uses any memory at all.

I've not had virus issues, malware issues, hacker issues, or defrag a drive in over 12 years. Ever since I dropped Microsoft products.

Something Microsoft or Apple will NEVER do... Publicly list out the blueprints to the world.  This is one of the huge reason why Linux is lighter machine load but strong protection over any other OS.

Just because I can. I love to push everything to beyond it's capabilities, then back off & find a very happy medium. Besides that my ulcerative colitis & Crohn's is trying to remove me from this planet for the last 3 month's.

Hey Mike, I have a i5-9600k for sale at a good price. 1 1/2 years warranty on on it.

You Sir are a wild man. Love your way of thinking though. Go big or stay at home.. You want to be a big dog, well get off the front porch step!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also quite colorful. I just like to see my EZ DEBUG LED'S

Be proud.

Your GPU would eat my GTX 1650 & fart Atari.

I am really into computer gaming so I like to have the best.  I get discounts on CPUs or else I wouldn't of bought the 12900K.  I would of gone your route and got an i5 or i7 and just OC'd it.  I wanted a good video card for my games so I can run them all on maxed settings so I put most of the money for this build into that.  I got it from EVGA, also at a discount (b-stock).

I been thinking of getting into a gaming PC myself, ditching the PS4-5 units you have to buy every so often, comp you just upgrade. Definitely very interesting!

All the new computers cost an arm or a leg. I also build my own computers.

Probably gunna upgrade eventually.

Most GPUs are back in stock now and not at scalper prices.  The next gen GPUs should be coming out in the next few months or so also.

I'll admit I need a video card. But have no idea what is better Nvidia or ATI. Then add the Linux angle with typically isn't a problem but some times drivers can be an issue.

Nvidia is probably the best as far as drivers go. Amd 6000 cards will probably age like fine wine after a couple years of being out, but yes next gen gpu's are right around the corner.  Heres a fairly close bit of info for the next cards. An rtx4060 is supposed to be equal or around the same preformance as a 3090.

I would have to agree.  Nvidia is more stable as far as drivers go and if you are using the computer for gaming Nvidia has better ray tracing then AMD also.  If the rumors are true and you can get a 4060 for $329 then it would be worth the wait to get a 4000 series card.  Current speculation for release is Sept this year.
