Ok I am fixing to change my oil for the first time. What filter and oil does everyone run? I was thinking Mopar Filter and Rotella 15w 40. Are these ok if not why?

:thumbup2:recommended and endorsed by cummins...see the "C" bottom right hand of bottle?:thumbup2:awesome stuff and dont "mella"

you run that 15w 40 in the winter months too?Just bought some valvoline 15w40 ....but wondering if thats too heavy.....already gettin down to low 20's at night here.

Full Synthetic 15w-40 is just fine in the winter. I run Amsoil 15w-40 year round and have no oil psi issues at start-up in sub zero temps.

i have always ran 15w-40 year round since '96...think about on the cold days that all of those gallons of oil sitting in the bottom of the oil pan in the big rigs.talked with drivers from alaska,az,maine, etc etc...and they have no problem with the non-synthetic 15w-40..everyone is different tho.:thumbup2:

A lot depends on the ambient temps, or they have oil pan heaters, or never shut the truck off. 15w-40 Pour Points in FDelo 400LE -22*Rotella T Triple Protection -22*Valvoline -22*Amsoil Semi-Syn -32*Amsoil CI -44*Amsoil CJ -40*-22 isn't all that cold for up north.

I often use Rotella but had stopped because of the smell after an oil change. Since adding Mike's crankcase vent mod I tried it again and had no smell.

Rotella dino seems to test better across the board as compaired to regular conventional oils in the tests I've read.
